A Searcher in the fog
Searchers are giant, 60-foot-tall humanoid figures that wander across Level 311. They are completely black, and have a giant hole in the middle of their heads, where their face should be. This hole emits a blinding light of varying colors that is used to catch it's prey.
Description
Searchers are giant, black humanoid figures that lack facial features and instead have giant holes in the center of their heads that emit a blinding beacon of light. Those who make contact with the light will begin to float towards the hole in their face against their will. These entities are known to prey on Wanderers and consume them in order to keep their light glowing.
It is believed that the light located in the hole of a Searcher's face also serves as their life source. This light seems to have the ability to move organic matter telepathically towards the hole in the Searcher's head, where the light will dissolve the matter and turn it into energy which it can consume. This beam of light also seems to emit sounds and voices meant to lure Wanderers towards it. Once you are caught by a Searchers light, you're good as dead.
Behavior
The main feature of Searchers seems to be the beacon of light which they emit from their heads. Searchers usually wander around aimlessly, occasionally turning their head towards the windows of Level 311 in search for Wanderers to consume. One report says that Searchers may mistake Skin Stealers for Wanderers and attempt to devour them before spitting them out after only a moment. On a few rare occasions, Searchers will charge towards each other and collide multiple times before one drops dead as their light begins to fade. There are also cases of Searchers being spotted with no light being emitted from their head. These Searchers are presumed to be dead, though this has not been confirmed.
Discovery
This entity was first documented by an unknown Wanderer who is presumed to be dead, due to their notebook being found attached to their severed hand. This notebook has since been dubbed as the "Severed Journal", and is considered the primary source of information for the intelligent behaviors which are only ever rarely displayed by the Searchers, as they tend to behave fairly mindlessly most of the time.
