This place feels so familiar... ∞

Entry One - April 4, 2022

20220404.cam-file=0.webp Photo of the place I'm in.

What is this place? It- it feels... familiar, but I just can't remember where. It looks like I'm in a yellow-wallpapered, carpeted room. I can't describe it perfectly, but I have my camera. I just took a photo, this still looks unreal.

It's been an hour and something's- something's chasing me! What is it?! It- it looks like a large dog?

I lost it. I need help. Please. I- I just don't know how much longer I can survive here...

Entry Two - April 7, 2022

According to my phone, I've been here for two days. I feel it's much longer than that. Much, much longer.

I found a place with moderate reception, and I found a bottle filled with a transparent substance apparently labeled Almond water? I've been getting by, barely alive at times, and my phone's battery is at 38%. I need help and I need it as fast as possible.

What- what is this? The walls, the floor, everything's faded into a... parking lot of some kind? The floor is wet with water stains, and it seems, again, so familiar...

I'm exploring this place. I hear a faint scratching noise from afar, I'm not going to risk it.

Entry Three - April 12, 2022

12042022.png-filetype=0.png A photo I took of the level.

I've been wandering through this empty parking lot for what seems like months, and outran many creatures trying to kill me. I found a wooden crate of some kind, opened it and got a large supply of food and water, along with a torch and a first-aid kit. I'm very lucky to have found this.

I found an electrical outlet, and recharged my phone to 94% until a Hound caught my smell. I used a broken crate shard to fight it away. I'm tired.

I've been exploring, running for my life, barely surviving for the past few days. I found a spot with relatively good reception, and got access to this database. It appears I'm in an alternate dimension called the Backrooms, and am writing this log just in case I discover some interesting or new level/entity.

My ultimate goal is to exit the Backrooms by any means possible.

Entry Four - April 20, 2022

I've been wandering around like normal, when I found an unlocked door. I went through and my brain went insane. I remember past memories; white lights flash past, and then everything went black.

Then I woke up. I'm now in a swelteringly hot corridor, with occasional lights and dirty pipes all around the walls... I think I noclipped here.

Maybe it's an effect of the Backrooms.

I've never seen this side effect alongside noclipping before. I want to get out as soon as possible, if ever. I'm slowly losing my sanity.

I've done some research; this database has proved extremely helpful and has saved my life in many cases. I'm on Level 2.

Apparently it's even more dangerous than the previous level. I'm scared out of my mind, I need to find other wanderers and quick.

I'm about to die. My blood stains my clothes and the flesh on my chest is all ripped out. I just finished cleaning the wound and putting bandages around it. It hurts like hell, this is agony.

I can remember it vividly.

I was reading the details of this level to see my chances of survival, when IT caught my sound. A tall, shadowy, skeletal figure then emerged from the corner.

Later research after the incident told me the entity was a scratcher. I saw it and threw an empty can at it, and ran away as fast as possible. It caught up with me in less than 5 minutes, and clawed at my chest, attempting to rip the organs out.

Despite the pain I slipped past it, stunned it with a heavy pipe and ran away again. I'm currently behind a large pipe and resting my tired, hurting body.

I want to exit this level as soon as possible.

Entry Five - April 22, 2022

I consider myself very lucky to have survived a Scratcher and also to have found this on my journey through the backrooms.

The heat here is unbearable; I feel like I'm being boiled alive. My skin is turning red, I'm sweating constantly and I feel like I'm going to pass out.

I found an elevator.

A random one; integrated into the walls of the level itself. I stepped in, having read the database available for this level.

I got noclipped to Level 4. I'm so happy about this happening, as there are cool air conditioners around and possibly other wanderers. I found a vending machine, and got Almond Water and a large supply of food. I need this badly, as I have been rationing my intake of water due to the swelteringly hot temperature of Level 2.

I'm wandering around, trying to find a colony or an outpost. Will update this later.

I finally found other people! They call themselves "Union Base 04", and have given me equipment and food. I now have the following items:

  • Backpack
  • Gloves
  • Water bottle (filled with almond water)
  • Rope
  • Knife
  • Bread

I am very thankful to them for helping me. I will be staying at this colony for the time being, until my wounds gets better; then I will make my way through the backrooms, and try to exit by any means possible.

Entry Six - April 24, 2022

Union Base 04 has a great location, it's the only place in Level 4 that has the best internet connection, therefore granting me unlimited access to this database without any fear of dangerous entities around.

I've been doing some research and I think that Level 3999 may be my best chance of escape. My plan now, is this:

Enter Level 6 from Level 4, then enter Level 8, then try to access Level 153 and find The Library of Time to enter Level 3999.

Unfortunately, Level 6 and 8 are highly dangerous, which is why I will be bringing two more wanderers to come with me on this journey as they also want to exit as well. These two are named Dan and Alice, who are experienced Backrooms survivors. My plan is mostly luck-based, as I only have a 0.004% chance to enter Level 153, or I get transported to Level 9 instead.

If that does happen, Then I will enter The Safe Place by noclipping through a lamppost, and live there in one of the communities as that might be the safest and best choice if I cannot go back home at all.

My companion and my lives are in great risk because of this plan, but I believe it is better than just sticking around in this lonely, liminal level to die at the end knowing that I didn't even attempt for a better place.

Me and my companions are preparing for this dangerous mission, with the help of Union Base O4 and a collaboration with the B.A.S. (the Backrooms Analytical Squadrant) to get extra information on the levels we are planning to go to to up our chances of survival.

We are bringing weapons, rations, water and a lot of other tools and gadgets to help us on out journey.

Entry Seven - April 27, 2022

We are ready for our mission for The Frontrooms. Union Base 04 and the B.A.S. have given us a reasonable amount of rations and water, along with some of the best equipment possible. We are walking around the level, and so far have met no entities whatsoever.

We're in front of a white door, but I have no idea whether it leads to Level 5 or Level 6. Fortunately Dan is experienced at this, and identified the door to be the one we're looking for, the one to Level 6.

Level 6 is extremely dark and highly dangerous, but it is not the worst level we will have to face (Level 8 or 9 have survival difficulties of 5). Night vision goggles do not work here, so we will have to be on our utmost guard.

Okay, we have entered Level 6. We need to find a hole, and quick.

It's been two hours, and luckily none of us are injured. There's been a few close calls with a mysterious entity none of us saw (because of the darkness), and fortunately not a single entity saw/heard us nearby.

Alice just stopped abruptly, saying very softly "I found a hole, be careful." She then climbed into the hole, entering Level 8. We climbed in right after.

This is Level 8. A dripping cave of sheer stalactites and stalagmites around, with not a single ray of light to let us see. We wore our night vision goggles, and slowly walked around, aware of our surroundings and knowing the extreme danger this level poses.

Not a minute later, we all trip on a blunt stalagmite in our way.

As I fall, the ground getting closer and closer, I hear spiders, thousands upon thousands of them, scurrying towards our location. But their attempts are in vain, because as I see I am about to hit the ground, everything goes black and I feel weightless. We've noclipped into another level.

I look around. I'm in a beige-cement room, with two openings into the same styled room. The carpet is dry and grey, which means I'm not back in Level 0.

I hear Dan slowly coming to his senses beside me, which gives me a sense of relief.

but wait.

WHERE'S ALICE?

I feel terror as the realization slowly dawns on me, as she is in Level 9.

Level 9 is as dangerous as Level 8, if not more. I hope she remembers to noclip into a streetlight to enter The Safe Place.

Me and Dan are unpacking our stuff, drinking and eating our daily rations as we are starving. A bit later he tells me to get up, as we have to find the Library Of Time to enter Level 3999.

We're walking along the level, when we see a computer. It's on, and displays strong Internet.

Just then, My phone goes off. Dan looks at me to read him the message.

It's from Alice.

"I noclipped into Level 9, but I am fine. I ran headfirst into a streetlamp and I'm in The Safe Place. I'm sorry I wasn't able to be of much help in this adventure, but I wish you luck in exiting the Backrooms."

Me and Dan breathe a sigh of relief. Alice is unfortunately not going to exit the backrooms (unless she chooses to), but at least she's safe.

We continue walking along the rooms and corridors of Level 153.

Entry Eight - April 29, 2022

It's been two days since we got the text message from Alice. We've done it; me and Dan have found the Library Of Time.

It's magnificent. There's books of all colors, sizes and dates. Dan found one dated 28000 BC.

I walk around, looking for a blue wall. Then I realize the whole library is encased in blue walls. I call Dan and we start walking toward the wall, when a human voice speaks up from my right. "HALT, ENTITY! Do not move!"

I say, "Don't worry, we are not an entity. We are Wanderers, like you."

The person walks slowly up to us and says, "Come with me, then." We follow him as he walks through the library, into a large opening with over a hundred people.

They all look at us, me and Dan.

Then a person walks up to us. From the looks of things, he is the leader of this band. "Mr. William, sir, we found these people walking around in the Library." says the person that found us.

The leader turns to us, and asks: "I am the leader of the Republic of Level 153. May I ask, what were you doing here?" We answer with our plan. He then says, "That was a very foolish plan of yours, but I admire your courage and bravery. You braved not only Level 6 but also Level 8, and a plan to exit the Backrooms is, I admit, common."

Mr. William then turns to the person who brought us here. "Give them shelter and information, then let them enter Level 3999."

A bit later, we are facing the blue wall. Distant arcade sounds come from the wall itself. Me and Dan walk through.

The bright neon lights and sounds of Level 3999 suddenly hit us. I realize I'm clutching a piece of paper and two rubber buttons, one red, one black. The paper reads: "Survive Level !"

I look over to Dan, and he is looking back at me with a look of horror on his face. Level ! is a bright red corridor, and whoever enters will have to run as fast as possible to the end of the corridor or the sheer amount of entities will kill you immediately. This database states that it is one of the most dangerous levels in the Backrooms.

Dan knows that the red button will bring us back to this level, but he has never seen the black button before.

I flip over the paper.

The black button will bring you to Level !. ONLY PRESS IT IF YOU ARE READY. The red button will bring you back, but will not work until you reach the end of the corridor in Level !.

I look at Dan, and he looks back at me with a look of determination. We sit down, and bring out our backpacks. We eat some canned meat to give us energy, bring some energy bars and drink some almond water before entering the level. We then bring only the energy bars as the backpack will just slow us down.

I drink a last gulp of Almond Water. "You ready, Alex?" says Dan. "Yeah," I answer.

He presses the black button, and everything dissolves.

Level !46png.webp A picture of Level !.

The blaring red lights and rushing sounds of entities wake me to my senses. I motion to Dan to run, as fast as we can, in the opposite direction.

My heart beats like a jackhammer as I keep running, running for my life.

At times the rushing sounds of entities get louder as they get closer, but we surpass them.

Sometimes the sounds disappear almost completely, but I don't dare to look back.

At some point, maybe minutes or hours later, Dan trips. A chilling scream emerges from my mouth as my blood turns to ice. I keep running, though, as the horde of entities slowly catch up to Dan and kill him. I keep running, faster and faster.

All the while I can't get the scene out of my head. Daniel Paige is dead, dead forever. I keep running.

Just as I feel my muscles are going to burst, I see the door. Extremely relieved, I run up and enter it.

As I close the door behind me, I press the red button and get transported back to Level 3999.

Entry Nine - April 29, 1:52 PM ||The Day I Exited The Backrooms

I see the glass doors. I walk towards them.

I push open the doors and walk through. The first thing I feel was the fresh air entering my lungs.

Then I see people, other people, all walking though the streets of Montreal, Canada, living their daily lives. The sound of cars and people talking was overwhelming, but beautiful.

I'm home at last.

I've escaped the Backrooms.

[END LOG]

Entry One - June 1, 2022

I've made up my mind. I'm going to save Alice. She's currently in The Safe Place as of now, but I believe she deserves to be in the Frontrooms. Of course, this will mean I'll have to re-enter the backrooms, but it's the only way.

I've spent the past few weeks preparing. I've just found out recently I have a talent with dagger fighting techniques, and combined with my engineering will help me wound and escape from entities more efficiently.

I'll take a large backpack filled with the following items:

  • 2 large bottles of fresh water
  • a lighter
  • 10 meters of rope
  • 15 energy bars
  • 1000 lumen flashlight
  • batteries
  • an electric stove
  • a pot
  • canned soup
  • canned chicken
  • night vision goggles
  • a first aid kit
  • a sleeping bag
  • kevlar clothing
  • winter jacket
  • a phone with high internet reception
  • a 2 terabyte hard disk
  • my camera

I know it's a lot of items, but it's the things that are necessary to survive in the hell known as the backrooms. I thought I'd never be back but I have to do this. For Alice, and to maybe find and document a level or save someone else.

I've been doing some exploring, and behind the Ice-cream shop next to my house is a brick wall, and it seems to have no shadow and sometimes looks like it's glitched out. I plan on using that to enter the backrooms.

For now, though, I'm just waiting for the sun to rise.

Entry Two - June 1, 2022

It's now morning, and I'm currently standing in front of the weird glitchy wall at the side of the ice-cream shop. I can't say I'm not nervous, but I know I have to do this.

I step inside, and suddenly everything goes black.

I wake up a while later, dizzy but determined. The mono-yellow of the wallpaper and the sound of buzzing lights hit me like an old, painful memory. I'm successfully in Level 0.

I take out my two knives, and hang them around my belt.

I start walking, waiting for the corridors to fade into Level 1.

Entry Three - June 2, 2022

According to my clock, a day has already passed. I've tested my knife skills with a hound (and made some delicious steak, see A Wanderer's Cookbook).

Ah, the halls have faded-

What is this place, again? It looks like an extension of Level 0, but it seems to be sealed shut... The wallpaper looks like a sort of cream, no, manila hue. This is weird, but i get a sense of safety here...

I'll just go to sleep for a while.

Life before the Backrooms

My name is Alexander Dawson, a 19 year old male. I used to live in Montreal, a province in Quebec, Canada. I lived a good life, almost finishing my degree in Engineering at McGill university.

I have a talent for creating machines and inventing random stuff, which may come in handy during my time in the Backrooms.

Event of Noclip

I remember vividly how I entered the Backrooms. One day I stayed late after school to do work, and saw a dark point at an old corner of the hall. I walked over to look at it, since the hall was flooded with light from a glass roof. When I stepped into it, however, time seemed to stop. The entire hall warped in front of my eyes as I fell down into a dark void, leaving the reality I was born into. Then I entered the Backrooms on level 0, at 6:52 pm April 4, 2022.

Current Whereabouts

In the Frontrooms. I've escaped the hell of liminality that is the Backrooms forever.
