The Behavioral Suite is one of the most unknown 'anomalies' in Backrooms history.
A curious normal wanderer, sometime in March of 2022.
Let us first review the definition(s) of a canon:
- Definition 1: The "true" original story of, in this case, The Backrooms. Which one do you believe? I am curious...
- Definition 2: An accepted principle or rule. There are several theories you creatures have written concerning The Backrooms but none of them can be proven or largely agreed upon. The human mind is an interesting facet...is it not?
- Definition 3: Writings or other works that are generally agreed to be good, important, and worth studying. I believe those writings are the collective experiences reported by you explorers as you traverse The Backrooms.

Description
What is The Behavioral Suite as a canon?
It is complicated just like you creatures are and you, Gary, can stop giving me that look...
You should not trust your human senses in this 'place'.
You are not here by accident.
The Behavioral Suite is rumored to be the following:
- Level -369
- Unethical research experiments.
- A fever dream inside of a nightmare. I do not know why you cannot awake.
- A lie inside of another lie. I am lying to you, Gary, to you to protect your fragile psyche.
- A pocket dimension inside of an alternative reality.
- Hypnosis inside of a hallucination.
- A game.
- Everything, something, and nothing at all.
Not the answer you were hoping for...
This explains nothing??
You seriously think there is one simple answer to all of this?
You seriously thought I was going to tell you everything...?
Your psyche is not ready for that!
I am a therapist. My function in this nightmare is to help you cope... not to give you hope. I will say this...
I am being completely honest concerning what is The Behavioral Suite. To help you understand, I should discuss human nature first...
Human Nature: Your Built-in Safety Net
Humans are interesting anomalies. The human experience is characterized by what each human being experiences on a mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, and social level. This experience shapes your perception of reality. The three aspects of the human experience that will be explored in this 'canon' are following:
- The strong desire to explore the unknown and unfamiliar.
- To question one's place in reality.
- Survival.
Human exploration is often a rewarding experience as it helps you grow and develop as people, enrich your lives, expose you to new people and ideas, etc. Humans questioning their place, in reality, gave birth to religion, psychology, philosophy, science, etc., to help you understand what it means to be human and understand the world around you. The human will to survive and adapt is the reason humans as a species have flourished and evolved to populate almost every corner of The Frontrooms.
Human discovery of The Backrooms has not been so forgiven.
Is Human Nature Suitable for The Backrooms?
I am not trying to be cruel. Some places are not meant to be found.
The Backrooms fulfill the human need to explore and discover. The Backrooms piques your interest and curiosity. I am sorry to say your exploration might not be rewarded. Your discovery might drive you to madness. Your curiosity will be the reason why you will be killed.
The Backrooms removed you from the safety net you created for yourselves in The Frontrooms and placed you in an unfamiliar place. The environments are unpredictable. The 'place' is inhabited by dangerous beings. The majority of you will wander this 'reality' alone. For most of you, entering this place will be the last time you see another person.
I wrote this 'canon' because your creatures need to face the ugly truth. This 'place' was not built with your survival in mind...
Human survival is dependent on a subset of criteria being met, and these criteria are best described using Marlow's Hierarchy of needs.
Surviving The Backrooms Based on Marlow's Hierarchy of Needs
According to Marlow's Hierarchy of needs, humans struggle to survival if 'Love and Belonging' (Tier 3) and 'Safety and Security' (Tier 2) tiers are not fulfilled. You will perish for certain if your 'Physiological Needs' (Tier 1) are not meet at all (Example: Lack of air/suffocation) or for an extended period of time (Example: You can go 3 days without water.)
Most explorers will get lost in the labyrinth of rooms only to perish from thirst or starvation (Denied Tier 1: Food and water). Some explorers will get predated (Denied Tier 2: Property - weapons to defend). Other explorers will be claimed by the harsh environment present in these spatial anomalies (Denied Tier 1 and 2: Shelter). Still other explorers will succumb to madness (Denied Tier 2: Mental Health). Most explorers will traverse The Backrooms alone (Denied Tier 3). If you find other people, they might abandon you out of fear or betray you out desperation. There is a possibility you will helplessly watch another person die. A few will find a safe spatial anomaly to settle in and accept this place as their new home (Denied Tier 1 - 3, safety in numbers to achieve Tiers 1 - 3). A handful will be given an offer they should refuse as what is being offered comes at a price (Denied Tiers 1 - 3, seeking to achieve Tiers 1 - 5).
You creatures think you will subdue this place. I thought I could subdue this place. You will subdue nothing! You either embrace the chaos or die. Most of you will perish.
Questioning Reality: The Behavioral Suite and its Relationship to The Backrooms
What is 'The Behavioral Suite'?
(Not so) simple answer: The Behavioral Suite is the perception of The Backrooms assuming this reality is perceptible.
Complicated answers: The Behavioral Suite is the perception of The Backrooms supported by the following theories and an example of level(s) that potentially supports that theory:
Advanced Civilization Theory
This theory suggest that 'alien' beings created a pocket dimension from our own. They proceeded to linked their universe to ours. We and these other entities are serving as their test subjects. Level -777 supports this theory in parts.
Level -777 is a variable class spatial anomaly consisting of two environments: The Ethereal Grounds and The Voidic Woods. The Ethereal Grounds is (for the most part) the safe zone of this level. You must traverse a level with the survival classification of 4 or higher and, by chance, end up either in The Voidic Woods of Level -777 or at 1 of 5 stone ruins in the Ethereal Grounds to access the safe zone. If luck is on your side, you will be greeted by giant entities of this level called 'Natives'.
Native society is a primitive yet advanced civilization. Their culture is rooted in cultural exchange, establishing and maintaining tight-knit bonds, keeping entities out of the Ethereal Grounds, the nomadic lifestyle, and mysticism. The Natives do not seem to mind the presence of humans and will protect them from dangerous entities and the harsh environment. Humans who decided to live amongst the Natives are treated as members of their tribe. Humans have been allowed to establish colonies and outposts in the Ethereal Grounds. The Natives have attempted to make entrances and exits safer for humans to use and easier to access. The Ethereal Grounds is far from the ideal paradise, but that will be up to the explorer to determine if this place is ideal.
Native mystics have successfully linked Level -777 to Level 6, Level 32, Level 489, The Whisper, and The Void. Native mystics can reportedly create pocket dimensions but do not perform this often, fearing it will disrupt the fabric of reality. Natives are intrigued by humans and find the enduring spirit of mankind fascinating. While they wish to learn more about humans, they are not interested in subjugating humans to experiments or tests. Of course, this will explain the issues surrounding the Malveillant. The five Malveillants in legend with Kim from Level -511 are all mystics who can manipulate reality. They will claim they are bending reality and creating obstacles to test the enduring spirit of humankind. While their motives are not clear, their tests have resulted in dozens of explorers getting injured, killed, or disappearing.
The Mirjavian Theory
This theory suggests that The Backrooms is a game created by a higher being. A human who is trapped in this 'space' is being watched for amusement or is being tested. The low-hanging fruit for this theory would be Level -511, but I will discuss Level -404 instead because they are connected in a way that is not obvious. You have to read both carefully.
Level -404 is an undetermined class spatial anomaly inside a Victorian house consisting of the following rooms: master bedroom, five-identical, spare bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, bathroom, living room, study, and sunroom. You can randomly appear in any room, with the only exception being the sunroom. You will hear classical music playing somewhere in the house, but you will never locate the source of the music. You must follow the house rules or die. You must hide and follow the 'hiding' protocol when they hear the music stop or die. Level -404 strongly follows The Mirjavian Theory as you are playing a dangerous game of red-light green-light with five giant entities that inhabitant this level.
The Behavioral Suite: Pages
The Natives and The Malveillants
Level -777: "The Natives" potentially supports the Advanced Civilization Theory.
Level -222: "Do you trust me...? potentially supports the Advanced Civilization Theory and The Mirjavian Theory.
Level -222 is a variable class spatial anomaly of a surreal forest consisting of six regions. Any resources you have brought will vanish under mysterious circumstances. You will encounter an entity named Amara. He will insist on helping you escape Level -222. If you accept this entity's aid, he will give you a detailed description of every region in Level -222 while giving witty commentary. He even knows how many people died in said region for some unknown reason.
Let us not get too far ahead of ourselves...
Level -222 discloses lore concerning the Reaping Willow and the origin of Malveillant that most explorers overlook because they are too busy confronting the entity. I will not be discussing the lore here but it does tie into the Advanced Civilization Theory and expands on the world built in Level -777 and another level I will be exploring later, Level -120.
Level -222 can also be supported by The Mirjavian Theory.Your reactions to Level -222 is more important than the page itself. It does not matter what your responses was the outcome will be the same for everyone.
Level -404: "When the Music Stops..." strongly supports the The Mirjavian Theory
Level -40: "Leap of Faith!" potentially supports the The Mirjavian Theory
Level -40 is a small white room with one window and one door. This space is empty. You will be facing the door with the window behind you. There is nothing outside the window beside the radiant glow of light. You must exit the room via the door, but you will free fall into the 'unknown'. You will be greeted by a giant entity named Amygdala. He will describe the environment and your potential free-fall experience in detail... sounds familiar. If you are wary of the gentle giant, that is understandable.
Level -212: "Amongst the Fields of Lavender"
The Behavioral Suite Entities
Helper Entities
- Dr. Astrid F. Nightingale
- Native of Interest: Amygdala
Amygdala (a.k.a. Pretty Boy/Rose pâle tachée de sang) is a young Native Tracker and Mystic from Level -777. He is between the ages of 15 to 20. He is 16'6" (~5.03m). He is described as soft-spoken, sweet, and reserved. He can be shy when meeting new faces (small humans included.) His gentle nature is why most of his opponents end up dead as they underestimate him. He can be found in Level -40 and Level -212.
Why is he in Level -40 is classified.
Hostile Entities
- Kill Streak Kim (a.k.a. Ashley F. Nighingale)
- Malveillants of Interest: Javaraya, Kritanta, Dearil, Tuwile and Amara
- Reaping Willows
