A small room in the Breadrooms.

The Breadrooms is a sub-level that appears to be in between Level 3998 and Level 3999 (3998.5? The number of this level is up to debate). This Level appears to be an infinite suburban house with complete furniture sets, but everything is the same mono-yellow as Level 0. The most noticeable feature of this level is the seemingly endless piles of bread found everywhere in this level. It is noted that rooms with more bread in it causes the walls to turn more and more into a shade of brown instead of yellow.

Description

At first upon entering this level, you appear to be inside a yellow suburban house's living room, with piles upon piles of different types of bread. The door leading outside in the living room is the only exit. However, going further into the rooms, it is confirmed that all rooms are random. The moment you lose track of the living room, you have lost your way of getting out and requires Brad's assistance. The walls are painted mono-yellow, and the floors are wooden with a yellowish tint. However, the level's bathrooms are always blue and contain large amounts of toast. You are likely to find Brad in these rooms. The more bread a room has, the browner the walls get. The bedrooms have mono-yellow wallpaper and pale yellow carpet, much like Level 0. Sometimes you will come across dark rooms or hallways with flickering lights and moth-eaten wallpaper. These rooms have a high chance of spawning entities and have no bread in them, though no entities will harm you if you have a light source. Asking Brad to guide you through will result in no entities spawning. Sometimes he can be found repairing the lights. The bread in The Breadrooms is debatable whether they are clean enough to be eaten, since they are scattered on the floor. It is recommended to ask Brad for bread instead (remember to have Almond Water on hand), but eating the bread on the floor hasn't been proven to have adverse effects yet. The Breadrooms have a low entity count and has beds, chairs, and kitchens, and can be a great spot to restock up on food or even stay.

Colonies and Outposts

Brad's Friends (Brad's followers)

There is a small group of people in the Backrooms that travel around like normal travelers, but periodically stop by the Breadrooms to "catch up with Brad". Usually, Brad's memories of travelers are wiped when they leave the Breadrooms. But Brad seems to remember these people, calling them his friends and needing no Almond water or trade to give these people food. They call themselves "Brad's followers", but Brad insists that they are his friends. One member says that Brad has given them a secret way of entering the Breadrooms from wherever they are, and only Brad's followers could get access to this secret way. The group is very friendly and will even pass out small tickets that are something along the lines of, "One free bag of whole wheat bread" or "One free bottle of Almond Water". Tests have found that Brad accepts these in exchange for food. A member says that joining the group is a great way to obtain free food. Brad once mentioned that they have a secret meeting room hidden somewhere in the level.

Entities

The Breadrooms are generally safe aside from the dark rooms. However, many variations of entities have been documented, and they have all adapted to be related to bread in some ways (lighters have not been proven to have a connection to bread due to their brightness). These entities are usually smilers and skin-stealers, with a connection to bread. All entities on this level will not attack if in the presence of light, and even become docile if Brad is in the vicinity.

Documented entities with a relation to bread have been:

  • Hounds (tameable with bread, rare)
  • Skin-stealers (will steal your bread if you have any instead of attacking)
  • Brad
  • Windows (appears to have large amounts of bread behind them, normal windows are dark)
  • Clump (rare, usually has bread in its tangle of arms and legs, sometimes holding bread with its long arm to lure wanderers)
  • Facelings (dressed as bakers)
  • Deathmoth (lays eggs in bread, results in fatal infection if eaten, usually docile)

Documented entities with no relation to bread have been:

  • Lighter (rare)
  • Smiler (rare)
  • Howler (unconfirmed)

These entities are speculated to have come from a different level, as Brad being near cannot tame them. Brad has stated he can easily defeat one of these, though.

Entrances and exits

These are possible ways of entering The Breadrooms.

  • Succumbing to hunger while thinking of bread
  • Falling through a brown wall in Level 3999
  • Tripping and falling on your face while climbing the staircase to Level 998 (not recommended as there's a higher chance of you breaking your jaw, than noclipping and ending up here)
  • Feeding male Deathmoths bread from Brad on any level. They will expand until they are bigger than you, and pick you up and fly away, using wings to obscure your sight. If you don't try to struggle and break free (which is easy), after 15 minutes to 20 hours the Deathmoth will drop you into the Breadrooms. If you struggle and break free you will almost always fall from a great height into The Hub. This height is usually enough to break a bone or two.
  • Entering a bakery in Level 849 brings you here.

Exit

The only way to exit is to go through the door in the living room you spawn in. Losing track of the room the door is in will cause the door to vanish. Asking Brad where the exit is after this gives you directions out. If you still know where the door is and you ask Brad, he will simply say "Oh, but you already know where it is, don't you?"
