Description

The Cameraman is a theoretical entity presumed to be responsible for capturing most of the currently known images of the Backrooms. The process by which this entity captures these photos is unknown, and its existence is yet to be proven. However, most of the Backrooms images cannot simply be attributed to being captured by Wanderers, as that would not explain the countless photos of levels taken regardless of the implied danger to the photographer.

Furthermore, the quality of the images dictates that they are clearly not taken from a smartphone or other common device. Rather, the majority are high-quality and appear as if captured with a professional camera apparatus that a typical Wanderer could not possess. If, on the minuscule chance that a Wanderer did have camera equipment of this nature, it would be unreasonable to believe that the individual could manage to travel from level to level capturing these images whilst carrying the equipment alone. From this, The Cameraman is theorized. This entity, for unknown reasons and by unknown means, travels throughout the Backrooms capturing images of various levels. Many images in the database do not have an explanation for how they were taken, such as those that do not have a caption regarding their photographer or the manner of their photography, can be considered to be attributed to The Cameraman.

The physical characteristics of this entity remain unknown, as it is believed the entity either manages to avoid being seen or does not have a physical form altogether. The only evidence pertaining to the existence of the entity includes reports of leftover film roll and undeveloped photographs rarely being found near the location of where a level's image was captured. The existence of this entity would serve as an explanation as to why high-quality images of levels often appear instantaneously after their initial writing into the database, even when the explorers responsible for the discovery did not carry photography equipment with them. It has been agreed to not make attempts to hinder or capture this entity, as although its methods and intentions are unknown, it serves as a general asset to the Backrooms database.
