The Complex refers to a multi-floor building that was discovered by u/Maxyboi1998 that has several mysterious properties.

Description

The Complex is a five-story building that was discovered by a Reddit user known as u/Maxboi1998. He is an experienced wanderer who has been exploring the backrooms since 2016. The complex does not house any reported entities. Due to the environmental threats, mysterious properties, and non-euclidean geometry, it's best to explore the outside areas of this level.

Items are common at this level. Almond water and canned food have been found on this level in rooms, halls, and in occasional vending machines.

The complex has had very mysterious reports. Screaming and footsteps have been heard, though no source has been found. Doors have shut and opened for no reason, and ceiling tiles and dilapidated walls have collapsed.

This level is known for geometrical anomalies and anomalous properties. Some hallways seem to loop forever, and some halls are non-linear. Walls have been reported to appear simply out of nowhere blocking off areas of this level while some rooms vanish when a wanderer is not looking. This suggests that the level may not be real, or it is hiding something. One wanderer reported falling through the ground and ending up on Level 6.

Floor

Floor One

Floor One is likely the safest part of the complex and can be escaped easily. Elevators, stairs, and sometimes even ladders, will take you to different floors. It is best to turn back when these features are noticed, as environmental hazards have been reported. Food and almond water have been very common on this floor. If you wish to continue, bring as much almond water as possible.

Floor Two

Floor Two is dangerous as there are falling ceiling tiles and some areas are very hot, although no recorded temperatures have been found. Floor Two lacks food and water, although in rare cases, it has been found in rooms, halls, and broken vending machines. This floor is where the wanderer gains experience of geometrical anomalies on this level. Halls can be non-linear in rare cases. Screaming has been heard from inaccessible rooms, but it's unknown why. People seem to disappear on this level for unknown reasons. Floor Three can be located here, but Floor One can be accessed if an extended search is used.

Floor Three

Floor three is very undocumented. This floor lacks supplies, with traces of only crumbs. This floor is very unstable, and staying on this floor for more than 30 minutes has proved to be fatal. Due to this floor's being very undocumented, it is best to turn back if an entrance is seen, as floors beyond this floor are likely more unstable and dangerous.

The Basement

The Basement is a rare floor, only occasionally appearing on floor one. This appears to be a "safe place" for wanderers as there is a consistent source of water and food. There are no recorded anomalies on this floor.

Tunnels

The Tunnels are a set of tunnels found in the basement that lead to other levels. This is a very consistent way of exiting this level. There are no supplies or anomalies in this area.

Outside

The outside appears to be an outdoor field and a paved road. This is a dangerous location due to the fact that it gets cold. It appears to be dusk in this area.

Colonies And Outposts

Base Luminous :

This is a base created by the M.E.G that provides supplies and sleep to wanderers wishing to stay. They also explore the levels and document activity. They are working to find a stable way to stay on Floor Three. They can be found on the first floor and in the basement.

Entrances And Exits

Entrances:

  • Level 9 can take you here if you wander long enough.
  • Walking north on Level 11 will take you here.

Exits:

  • The Metro can be found by wandering on the sidewalk outside of The Complex.
  • There is a 30% chance that an elevator will take you to level 4.
  • Entering a neighborhood will lead you to level 9 or level 11.
  • Walking in the field will lead you to level 10.
  • There is a 70% chance a bus stop is close to the complex. Waiting there for six minutes will take you to level 36 or Level ∞
