Description[]
The Delta Mall is composed of three corridors that measure about 90 meters each (about 295 feet) and meet at their ends, forming the equilateral structure of the mall; they are divided into two floors and the second is divided into two sides by an open space in the middle, which are connected by bridges with staircases and escalators. The flooring is made up of some sort of dark stone, believed to be basalt tiles, and there is almost no ceiling. The sky is visible, and the only things that intrude its view are some triangular roofing that serve as support for the lights of the mall.
All three aisles have stores on both sides and both floors. Said stores are pretty varied, ranging from fast food brands like Burger King to tech stores like Samsung Store: travel agencies, amusement parks and even gun stores, be the store famous or not, from pretty much any country. This makes The Delta Mall a great place to gather supplies for exploring posterior levels. There are also some signs either attached to the columns that support the second floor or hanging from the little ceiling that exists.
Although the structure of the three is practically the same, the corridors are not the same. There are some characteristics that differentiate them from each other: one has a statue of a woman in a fountain located at the middle of the path; the other corridor, filled with tables of various shapes, is the food court of the mall, where there are only restaurants and other food related stores; in the last corridor are the restrooms, the entrance of the mall — made of resistant sliding glass doors, blocked on the outside by a robust metallic security door — and a large entrance that leads to the center of the mall, where a park is located. The park consists of a triangle-shaped grass field with a few wooden tables arranged around and a tree in the middle. There doesn't seem to be anything else special about this green area other than the food kiosks near the walls, which contain groceries like ice cream, milkshakes, and Almond Water.
Some explorers who climbed to the roof stated that the exterior is quite odd: the mall appears to be floating in the a sky that, from the horizon down, gets gradually darker. They also said what the mall's facade is like: it has a modern style, with a large sign with the mall's name and logo and some lines decorating the walls, very similar to the lines seen in the mall's own advertisements. Moreover, the time cycle seems to be slightly faster inside the level, but the weather is normal; however, rain or shine, the air conditioning system is always on and temperatures range from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).
There are basically no threats whithin the level. The most prominent one is that the mall is not protected from foreign entities; this means that any entity can enter The Delta Mall. However, due to the rare sightings of dangerous entities and the protection given by The Hamster, the level is considerably safe for wanderers to stay for a while.
Properties[]
A map made by an explorer of The Delta Mall.
The level's most notable anomalous property is its ability to change its stores. Every time you turn in one of the corners of the mall, the stores change to others, making it quite difficult to find a desired store; with this, explorers believe that any store in the world can be found on this level, as thousands of stores, from the most famous to the most unknown, have been seen here since the discovery of the level.
It has been noticed that an aisle only changes when there are no humans or entities in the corridor or having eye contact with it, which may lead some to think that the level is infinite or non-Euclidean, however it was later found that only the stores change, and not the entire corridor, as some objects left by wanderers in the corridors, out of a store, remained there. In the beginning, this, along with other properties, made wanderers sometimes call this level "Level Variation" or "Level Difference", which soon highlighted the intrinsic relationship between these terms, the name of the mall and the Greek letter delta, since this letter is commonly used in mathematics and science fields to denote the difference between two variables.[1]
In addition to the ability to change your stores, there are many properties that can be seen at The Delta Mall. The most important ones are listed right below:
- Meteorite Shower
- Speakers
- Fountain Statue
- Hamster Statues
Mysteriously, there are four black and small hamster-shaped statues inside some stores. Due to the level's ability to change stores and the size of some of them, they are extremely difficult to find. It has also been noted that if left elsewhere long enough, the figures will appear back in their places, but it is unknown if they simply teleport away or if The Hamster moves them back. It was later discovered that they open a portal to Triangular Pandemonium when placed on top of the tables closest to the tree — while performing these steps, The Hamster will apparently try to stop the wanderers, making chirping sounds as if he's saying something.
There are also some other properties observed in the mall:
- Most establishments are exorbitantly priced, making cheap groceries like a Snickers bar cost about $50 — good thing we don't have to pay anything. Even overpriced, the products that are taken from stores are restocked after an incosistent interval, which can vary from a few hours to some days;
- There is strong Wi-Fi throughout the mall and pretty much all devices from the mall are connected to this network, but it is password locked. Some managed to enter the network using QR Code sharing, however it was noticed that the message “Wi-Fi connected but no internet” appears, so it may not be possible to use the Wi-Fi on devices from outside the level;
- Hallway lights may rarely flicker and, even more rarely, break. Broken lights are always fixed when turning the corners.
Entities[]
There is only one entity present at The Delta Mall full time: The Hamster, or “Entity 250”, a medium-large hamster-like creature that resides at this level. The Hamster often wanders around the mall, looking for things to eat, places to sleep, and things to amuse himself; some also claim to have seen him cleaning up the trash left by walkers in the mall at times. It was confirmed through an interview that this entity has consciousness and the ability to communicate with humans through the Polish language.
This rather curious entity, despite its seemingly normal appearance, has been confirmed to be able to float and to have teleportation powers, which it uses to attack aggressive entities that enter the level, scratching, biting and teleporting them away. Usually, this entity is pretty passive, but in addition to its behavior towards evil entities, some have noted that The Hamster tends to get agitated when near a large concentration of explorers and is less likely to attack entities while undergoing this unrest, which weakens the level security and makes colonies and outposts not recommended.
In addition to this entity, as previously mentioned, any entity can enter the level — although sightings are rare, several entities have already been seen, some more common like Hounds and Smilers and others more exotic like The Narrator.
Colonies and Outposts[]
Due to the nature of The Hamster, establishing colonies and outposts is not recommended in order to avoid a possible infestation of entities, thus maintaining the security of the level. That said, no one has established colonies here.
Entrances and Exits[]
Entrances[]
- Entering a kitchen holding a Delta Mall poster in Level 334 may teleport here;
- Interacting, for over an hour, with an arcade labeled “Find the Chomiks” in Level 399 will teleport here;
- Noclipping through a furnace in Level 464 sends one here;
- Any unpredictable no-clipping in Level 597 has a chance to send here;
- Triangular doors that appear in Level 5, Level 6.1, Level 11 and Level 577 bring one here — know that these doors are somewhat difficult to find;
- A train from the Orange, Purple or Interchangable Lines of The Metro can bring here.
Exits[]
- Entering and staying inside any fridge in any restaurant or other food store for a while may take one to Level 11;
- Stacking 40 boxes of movies in a Blockbuster store will teleport to Level 40;
- During one of the meteorite showers, playing all games in an arcade and no-clipping on a wall will take to Level 399;
- Entering an exhibition door on a Leroy Merlin has a really low chance to take to The Hub;
- Finding all the four dark hamster statues and placing them on the tables closest to the tree in the park will open a passage to Triangular Pandemonium in the trunk.
