Backrooms Wiki

"If you're careful enough and noclip out of the Backrooms in the right areas, you'll end up back in the Frontrooms, where it's nothing but an expanse of water and land, 7.9 billion other people, and approximately 150 million square kilometers of habitable territory to rest and survive in. God save you if you fall through a discolored wall, because it may just be an entrance to the Backrooms."

The Frontrooms are the only “level” of true baseline reality, mostly separate from the Backrooms.

Description

The Frontrooms are considered the major counterpart to the Backrooms. They are also the easiest and most practical entrance point to the Backrooms. The Frontrooms are reasonably large, having approximately 150 million square kilometers of habitable land, and 510 million square kilometers including water and other substances.

It is divided by 4 or 7 major portions of land — depending on your concept of a continent — and thousands of minor parts. The atmosphere, temperature, and other conditions seem to be very safe for exploring and settling sedentary behavior. The dimension seems to be pretty old, as a lot of buildings (old and new) were constructed and destroyed there. Some theories even say that human life existed in the territory thousands of years ago.

The new land has a natural satellite that orbits around it. Residents of the Frontrooms named it the “Moon”. The planet also seems to be rotating around a considerably massive star, denominated “Sun”. The temperature is assumed to be freezing on the poles and extremely hot at the center, causing a big part of the population to live in the middle of the two sections for a good balance.

It is implied that the Frontrooms has a lot of depressions and elevations. Some elevations even contain parts of the content present in the center of the planet, magma. The material is very hot, and it is advised not to approach it, not even with proper equipment, unless for research purposes. Theories claim that there are materials that are hotter than magma, but it's deeper into the center of the globe.

The giant parts of the land are divided into smaller/bigger plates present underneath them. If these segments move too much, parts of the territory may elevate or combine, causing strange anomalies. This apparently can also happen underwater, but it's harder to notice. If these movements are too extreme, the adventurers can experience an unpleasant experience, with buildings being significantly damaged or destroyed; unfortunately, some explorers pass away during the event.

Unfortunately, due to the intensive action of the explorers settled there to their habitat, future might be dark for the habitants there. The average temperature is rising, and the anomalies that usually happen are getting more frequent and more powerful; if they don't even more effort to stop it, the reality that they live may be uninhabitable in a few years.

Entities

There are no Backrooms entities present on this level. Instead, all entities there are exclusive to the dimension. There are many, but below, there are listed the most recognizable ones.

There also are former colonies (countries), that were dissolved during the extensive conflicts throughout the years in the Frontrooms. A list of the most notorious ones would be:

  • The Soviet Union, a former communist state that was one of the major powers that had dismantled the Third Riech during World War 2, after which it went into an arms race with the United States, developing weapons of mass destruction and proxy wars until it was dissolved in 1991.
  • The Confederate States of America, a former nation being created in a civil war in the United States. It was dismanteled by the United States.
  • The Mongol Empire, the biggest land colony in human history, having conquered many hostile countries. (1210's to 1300's)
  • The Third Reich, having killed innocent people in the most brutal, incomprehensibely horrible ways, never comparable to the horrors of the Backrooms. This nation from hell got destroyed in a conflict known as World War 2, a successor to the first. (1939 to 1945)
  • Napoleonic Empire, was the empire ruled by Napoleon Bonaparte, who established French hegemony over much of continental Europe at the beginning of the 19th century. It lasted from 18 May 1804 to 11 April 1814 and again briefly from 20 March 1815 to 7 July 1815. series of wars, known collectively as the Napoleonic Wars, extended French influence to much of Western Europe and into Poland. At its height in 1812, the French Empire had 130 departments and a population of 44 million people, it ruled over 90 million subjects, maintained an extensive military presence in Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland, and counted Austria and Prussia as nominal allies. The Roman Empire, beginning in the year 753 BCE and ending in the year 1453 with the Fall of Constantinople. Western Roman Empire had fallen about 975 years prior in 476, however. The empire and nation of Rome was on its way to fall centuries before it did. The crisis of the third century, religious changes, the battle of Manzikert, and ultimately the 4th crusade, making the Roman Empire a shell of its former glory.

Apart from the ones mentioned above, you can find another colonies (countries) around the dimension. These colonies generally can be grouped in bigger parts, generally divided by the types of entities present, the anomalies or even by the population density.

Documentation of the Frontrooms

The entities in the Frontrooms, especially the Homo sapiens sapiens, have been documented to fight against each other for resources and to expand their own "countries". The first documented colonies having been built in the Frontrooms were in the level also known as "Mesopotamia". From there, innovations like the effective use of metals like copper and agriculture have spread to other colonies.

Thousand years ago in this dimension, the Roman Empire was created, which is one of the earliest so-called "empires". It was able to force its will upon its neighboring hostile countries and tribes, and its legacy went on for thousands of years.

The most deadly conflict in the history of the Homo sapiens sapiens was the "Second World War", a war in which the country named the Third Reich attacked the nearby country of Poland, with the war eventually spreading to multiple levels and so-called "continents" of the world, notably Russia, China, and Africa.

It is unknown when the first entities from the Frontrooms entered the Backrooms, but there is a possibility that it started around the creation of the Roman Empire.

Entrances and Exits

Currently, there are some guaranteed ways to exit the Backrooms. The most known exit is Level 3999 which happens by walking out the glass doors in the level.

More possible entrances from the Backrooms to the Frontrooms:
  • Exiting any door at daytime in The Promised Land takes you here.
  • The only way to enter the Frontrooms in Level ! is to go full-on DOOM Eternal and kill the entities in a brutal and gory way. (Ignore this, we have no idea how this got here)(This was totally not written by our gracious party host hehe)
  • A globe is very rare to find in Level 11, if you find one then it will be no-clippable and every globe in a building in Level 11 will Possibly take you to the Frontrooms. In rare occasions (15% chance) you can be in The Midrooms, a 2% chance to be in The End and a 0.8% to be in The Toprooms, however this is all just speculation. Globes in The Backrooms means good luck.
  • Going through Room Infinity in Level 162 has a 90% chance of sending you to the exact place and time you entered the Backrooms.
  • Escape the copy of Level ! from Level 346 to get here.
  • It is rumored that no-clipping through a hospital bed in Level 520 has an extremely low chance to bring you here.
  • Find the exit to The Undiscovered, and you have a 50% chance of getting sent here.
  • You can also get to The Frontrooms by reaching the top of the 5000 stairs in Level 9223372036854775807 and jump into the integral void. However, this is not confirmed.
  • Reaching the top of the mountain in Level Pain will take you here.
  • Dream about this place in room Level ! will cause you to teleport you into your old home.
  • Walking on the hospital roof in Level 924721 will have a 90% chance of death, the other 10% will take you here.
  • It is believed that The Hub may have a global door to the frontrooms, but it has not been found yet.
  • If you are fortunate enough to find the "Floor Glitch" in The Unthoughtful, you can fall through it and have a 70-80% chance of ending up here.
  • If you find the yellow hole in Level 92 you no-clip here.
  • escape The Final Challenge will take you here.
Others entrances outside of Backrooms:
  • Reports say that no-clip in The Toprooms can lead to The Midrooms but it's not proven.

Exits

  • Make sudden movements into walls, ceilings, and/or floors. If you are fast enough to where objects can't become solid by the time you interact with them, you can no-clip into either Level 0 or Level 1. It is very rare, but you can no-clip into Level 2 and Level 3 as well. There will be an added modifier if you escaped via the frame perfect noclip into 2 collapsing nebulae in an unknown level.
  • Play the elevator game, this will lead you to Level 0. On rare occasions, you can enter Level 11 or Level 5, and if you do it in an abandoned hospital you will enter Level 14.
  • If you summon Lady Spades, ask for the one desired wish by saying, “I wish I lived in an infinite liminal space, with fluorescent hum-buzz lights with wet carpets.” If you don't provoke her, then your wish will be granted and the next day you will wake up in Level 0. You can also wake up in different levels if you ask for the wish that describes the appearance of the level you desire to wake up in.
  • Noclipping through reality has a 1% chance to end up in The Midrooms.
  • Noclipping through reality has a 0.5% chance to end up in The Toprooms.
  • Finding an blue and white door leads you to The Gateway.
