Description

For the sake of simplicity all Inversion levels are on the same page as to not be redundant. The Inversion is a series of secret levels in the backrooms that seem to be empty versions of already existing levels within the backrooms with the huge difference being visible light is inverted and the level being devoid of the normal entities and features that level had (EX: Level 11 missing its entities and most entrances to other levels). There have Are currently 22 discovered levels part of the inversion, all have been proven to be versions of other levels except IN??. Levels that the inversion mimics are levels 0-20 (plus one unknown level). All of these levels Inversions counterparts are labeled with an IN before the number. Despite 22 levels being discovered only around half have been explored as the entrances to Inversion levels Are see through but require you to no clip through them (Except Level IN0). The Difficulty of no-clipping through an entrance is dependent of the level number that Inversion level is based off of, this is why the higher numbered inversion levels haven't been explored and why level IN0 doesn't require you to no-clip to enter (Note you don't have to no-clip to exit).

Effects on Wanders

It is not recommended to enter any Inversion level if you see an entrance as they may be devoid of native entities, however no supplies can be found in Inverted levels even in places where there would be supplies. However These levels being mostly devoid of entities could be a saving grace on more hostile Levels such as level 2, level 3 , level 6, or level 9. If you are going to do that make sure you have almond water as the inversion has an effect on sanity which increases more as you spend more time in in it. Those who loose their sanity will become Entity INA (Classified as that because putting a number would imply that its an inverted version of that numbered entity) or shadow beasts. Despite their menacing name Shadow beasts are (usually) docile entities as they are lost wanders who lost their sanity. Its not recommended to become a shadow beast as they can't exit the Inversion without no-clipping through the exit. Its recommended to exit the Inversion when your business is done. The Inversion Doesn't have wifi in levels 1-10 but if the phone has a data plan it will pick up cellar data. Level 11-20 do have wifi. its unknown if Level IN?? has wifi. Level IN0 for some unknown reason has no wifi or cellar data at first, but if you turn on a hotspot it works.

Level IN??

Level IN?? is a level found on accident by m.e.g officer Steven Johns. He said he was on Level IN 11 when he fell into a man hole. Steven Found himself in an underground sewer castle that doesn't resemble any existing levels. Steven Only stayed for about 20 minutes Until suddenly he fell unconscious and woke up in Level IN0. 200 Attempts have been made to recreate this entrance with only 2 being successful. The First mission had more info gathered about the level's landscape, suitability for survival, and how long you can stay in the Level before being booted out. It seems that after 20-30 minutes of being one level IN0 you will fall asleep and wake up in Level IN0. The third Successful recorded entry was done as quick as possible So as to make use of the limited time window. It was discovered that the floor IN?? could be inverted Is a floor with a sewer kingdom and village with a social structure but its hard to find out. Because of its resemblance to an undiscovered floor M.e.g scientists theorize that Level IN?? is exclusive to the inversion and doesn't have a inverted counterpart. Others think the limited time frame wanders have in it is because the level it's based off of hasn't been discovered yet so the backrooms sending you to level IN0 is the backrooms "crashing" because of a lack of data. Attempts to reach the normal version of IN?? have been unsuccessful.

Entities

Theres Only 3 confirmed Entities In the inversion, Others have been sighted but are unconfirmed.

Entity INA - Shadow beasts - usually docile entities that are humans who lost their sanity in the inversion. Can resemble a pure black wolf, fox, eagle, lizard, or pigeon. Most can communicate with wanderers and in a way are wanders themselves are these Entities have been reported to be members of other outposts on different floors. Shadow beasts are the same person as they were before, however depending on their mental state when enetering the Inversion, may or may not retain their memories. Shadow beasts will always retain the personality of the person they were, regardless of their mental state when entering the inversion. Shadow beasts cannot exit the Inversion by just walking through an exit like normal humans. Shadow Beasts have to no-clip out similar to how humans have to no clip in to the inversion. This means they can enter the inversion like how humans can easily exit the inversion. You can see Instances of Shadow beasts in other colonies outside of the Inversion, These are Shadow beast wanders who managed to escape the Inversion.

Entity IN9 - Inverted facelings - Very rare. Technically note native to the inversion. Can be hostile or docile depending if the faceling was hostile or docile to begin with. Hostile Facelings That enter the inversion become Docile Inverted facelings and vice versa.

Entity IN8 - Inverted hounds - Rare, unknown if they are native to the Inversion or not. Unless fed almond water Inverted hounds will remain still. If Pushing an instance will cause it to get back up and continue its un-reactive behavior. If fed almond water the hound will act like a normal dog from the front rooms. As you can guess Instances of IN8 have been tamed by colonies of the inversion levels.

Entrances and Exits.

Each Inversion level has an entrance to it in its Normal version and vice versa. Each entrance is 2 way so its also an exit. An entrance to the inversion can be identified as a huge red glowing translucent barrier , if you are a human you will have to no clip through the entrance, if you are a shadow beast you just have to walk through it. An exit to the Inversion is a huge dull blue translucent barrier, if you are a human just walk through to exit, if you are a shadow beast you must no clip to exit. If you are on or trying to enter level IN0 you just have to walk through the barrier and you'll be fine, no no-clipping needed. All Entrances to the inversion can be found in their normal counterparts with the difficulty of no-clipping depending on the level you are on (higher the level the harder it is). Level IN?? is entered differently than the other inversion levels. To enter IN?? find a manhole in Level IN11, Open the manhole and jump down. If you are lucky you have a (average) 1% chance of entering Level IN??. To exit Level IN?? Fall asleep (either by choice or by the time limit) and you'll wake up in Level IN0. There are ways to enter Inversion levels from other inversion levels. If you got to where a level entrace is normally it can send you to the inverted version of the level where you would normally go. Entrances that would normally lead to a level that doesn't have a discovered inverted version then the entrance will be boarded up with a indestructible type of wood with a sign that says Sorry out of order :/ or the entrance will just not work. Same applies to exits of that type.

Colonies and Outposts.

There are 4 discovered Colonies and 1 M.e.g Outpost in the inversion. Note that all colonies in the inversion are ran by shadow beasts due to the effects of the inversion.

The Shadow beast society:

The Shadow beast society is located on Level IN1 and are a friendly group of Shadow beasts open to trade. they accept most new members shadow beast or not. How ever all of their members are currently shadow beasts. They get their supplies from trading with the MEG. The Shadow beast society is aware of the friendly neighbors, the farmers, and the city dwellers.

The friendly Neighbors:

The friendly Neighbors are a group who resides on level IN9, They are very friendly and are open to trade. However The Friendly neighbors will probably not let you in a house without something in return, this is because level IN9, IN10, and IN11 all have an economy with a currency call Shade dollars. If you don't have supplies to trade then getting a house is impossible. The friendly neighbors do have a police force that also monitors the Farmers so they don't turn on the them. Most of the members of the friendly neighbors are unaware of the shadow beast society. They get their supplies from the farmers.

The Farmers:

The Farmers are a colony that resides on level IN10. They are the main provider of food for the friendly neighbors and the city dwellers. They share the same economy as the two mentioned before. The Farmers has the most people of any colony in the inversion, this is because Level IN10 is the only level that can produce food and almond water (Level IN7 can also produce almond water but not food. Level IN?? produces a contaminated version of almond water). The Farmers are friendly and are open for trade. Stealing from them is heavily advised against since they take it more seriously than the other colonies. The Friendly Neighbors and the city dwellers have police members monitor the farmers so they don't turn on them and hoard the food. The Farmers get their supplies on their own. Most of the Farmers are unaware of the Shadow beast society.

The city dwellers:

The city dwellers are a group of wanders that reside on Level IN11. They are friendly but getting a place to live is not easy as they share the same economy and price system as the Farmers and the friendly neighbors and housing on Level IN11 is pretty expensive. The City dwellers have most stuff you'll find in a city, Public transportation, a police force, people who manage the infrastructure etc. Level IN11 has the second most amount of residents of the colonies in the Inversion. The city dwellers also help the M.E.G out with research in exchange foe supplies. Most of the City dwellers are aware of the Shadow beast society. The City dwellers get their supplies from the M.E.G and the Farmers.

M.E.G Level IN11:

The M.E.G has an outpost near the border of Level IN11 and Level 11. They do research and trade with the city dwellers. Due to the effects of the inversion no human member can stay there for more than 5 days. This Outpost is the reason why there are members of the M.E.G who are shadow beasts.

Images:

Due to the No clipping you have to do to enter the inversion getting cameras Inside Is pretty difficult since cameras aren't found within the inversion. Getting Images Of the inversion is very hard. This Image is was taken at a place in Level IN0 That looks Identical to the classic Level 0 Image which explains why it looks so familiar

Image of level IN0

Due to the difficulty of entering the inversion getting cameras inside is a challenge. This means there's only a few Images of the Inversion that exist. One MEG Officer was able to find an Area that looks like the Iconic image of Level 0 in level IN0.
