⸻ 〈Overview〉 ⸻

Not to be confused with the Kilo 4 branch of the Backrooms Investigation Foundation

The Kappa-IV Body, commonly abbreviated as the K4, is a small, yet dispersed multipurpose agency founded on November 5, 1997. Consisting of around 300 members[1], the group is primarily known for its briefness and efficiency in carrying out commissions; such tasks may include supplying resources, exterminating wanderers, retrieving information, and so forth.

Because of the K4's widespread presence, overall success, and evasiveness, it is widely speculated that it possesses anomalous objects — particularly those that aid it in its missions — as well as light military weapons. The agency is seemingly always abundant with resources[2] and rarely needs the assistance of other groups.

Due to the K4's willingness in carrying out any sort of tasks — should the commissioner meet their end of the bargain — the group is heavily controversial regarding morals and ethics. With that being said, because of the versatile abilities of the K4, many major Backrooms organizations have repeatedly seeked the aid of the Kappa-IV.
⸻ 〈History〉 ⸻

While many aspects of the K4 are strictly confidential, members are very open about the historical details of the group. Founded on November 5, 1997 by a figure of expunged identity, the group started out as a collection of scavenger troops.

They remained unknown until May 20, 1999, when the K4 raided M.E.G. Gamma Base III, ultimately resulting in widespread devastation across Level 3. None of the raiders were caught. Following the incident, posters advertising the K4's services began appearing across habitable levels, primarily Level 1, Level 4, and Level 10.

Throughout its existence, the K4 has encountered all major Backrooms groups, each confrontation of varying intensity. Despite this, ties between the Kappa-IV and other organizations remain relatively neutral[3].
⸻ 〈Locations〉 ⸻

K4 outposts are marked with the Kappa letter and typically house about one dozen members. However, all settlements are temporary; they are promptly burned after usage. It should be noted that the Kappa-IV mainly resides within safer levels.

Wanderers who encounter K4 bases have several choices. They can:

>Set a commission at a reasonable price. If the task is unfeasible for the K4, they will be turned away.<
>Join the K4, in which they will be integrated with the group's hierarchy.<
>Ask for an exit out of their current level for a price or work for the K4 for a certain period of time.<

As of currently, there are 24 known K4 bases.
⸻ 〈Group Relations〉 ⸻
The Database
In the K4-Database document, it is stated that the K4 — should it discover an level, entity, object, or phenomena — will provide the Database with all necessary details in exchange for various objects.
The Entity Recycling Association
The ERA and the K4 have a simple bond, in which they periodically meet to exchange materials. It is unknown when and where they meet.
The Brutus Experimentation Organization
An alliance between the BEO and the K4 has yet to be officially confirmed, but numerous reports depict both groups trading items.

  2. This includes building materials, edibles, devices, and so forth.
  3. Most groups tend to avoid K4 members. However, the K4 has close connections with the Entity Recycling Association, the Brutus Research Organization, and They Who Seek.
