The Kauer Research Organization is a major multifaceted group purposed for documenting the Backrooms' bizarre aspects, primarily phenomena and anomalous objects. Stationed in multiple levels, the K.R.O. continues their research on the unknown, the infinity, and the enigmatic.
With strong bonds with other prominent groups—such as the Major Exploration Group, the Backroom Colonists, the Entity Research Committee, and the Database—Kauer pushes humanity forward into the ultimate frontier, the Backrooms.
The Kauer Research Organization is extremely strict concerning confidentiality, keeping virtually all their data classified from the public, save for one archived article, which remains freely viewable—The Kauer Thesis. While the Database has some copies of Kauer's documents, all of them are protected by a password.Founded in 1943 as the Kauer Alliance, the group's mission was to analyze and document level properties. With poor technology, their progress began relatively slow. Over time, the Alliance accumulated members, changed its governance form, and expanded its studies.
With the passing years, technological advancements allowed the Alliance to rise in power, resources, reputation, and presence. In 1983, the organization's name was changed to the Kauer Research Organization.
Given the recent burst of anomalous activity recorded throughout the Backrooms, Kauer's activity has increased exponentially and is seeking to form alliances with more powerful groups, specifically those capable of aiding the organization in researching.Due to the diversity of anomalies that the Backrooms present, the Kauer Research Organization has numerous branches, divisions, and subdivisions, all dedicated to a purpose. Every Kauer base's location remains strictly classified.
Wanderers who unintentionally encounter Kauer bases will be promptly offered assistance and directions to the nearest outpost.
