After much consideration from the Kauer Research Base and Outpost, and in accordance with an agreed majority vote, it can finally be said that an explanation regarding the state and abnormality of the Backrooms has been formed. This thesis attempts to answer the cause(s) of the existence of the Backrooms, as well as the reasons for its manner as a whole. In short, it is hypothesized that the existence of the Backrooms is simply a spatial anomaly; a glitch, of sorts. It should not exist, yet it does, as a remainder; leftover code, in layman’s terms, unintentionally creating a randomized dimension of no bounds, following a simple pattern of design. Of course, “code” does not refer to an actual program; rather, the Backrooms are an illusory tulpa, formed simply from the belief of many. Indeed, this thesis states that the existence of the Backrooms is purely a result of the sure belief in it: a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts; a tulpa created from the minds of many, forming into reality. One can theorize that the Backrooms may not have existed before the famous post presenting the concept on 4chan.org. However, as a result of its exposure and the increasing belief in the idea of its existence, the Backrooms may have come to be, ultimately creating the idea that they already existed, fulfilling the cause of its original posting.
