Several bodies of what appear to be ordinary people, most of them of Mongolian and Siberian descent had been found inside the PV-1. Autopsy reports of one of the bodies had shown these bodies were in that same position for a decade, yet no signs of any decomposition nor bacteria had been discovered. The respiratory, digestion, muscle, and nervous systems remain intact, however, the heart and the blood vessels; they seem, they seem to have been significantly destroyed. Samples of blood and the heart had been taken out for further research, we have to keep the body in a place where the process of decomposition would not happen.
7/10/1979, samples of the blood had been tested and confirmed to possess an unknown disease. It does not seem to have an apparent similarity to other known diseases, we might have something that could be useful for defense or offense against the United States. We request an order for about 25 test monkeys to find out about its symptoms, and what happens to the infected victims. So far, we know it only attacks the circulatory system, and not other organ systems in the body. Samples of the disease are kept inside the secret chamber following your orders. The virus also attacks amoeba cells; for now, we will be using those before further testing mammals.

14/10/1979, the symptoms seem to remain consistent on every test we did. The following are the symptoms, starting from the injection of the disease:
- 20-60 minutes in, subject shows a sign of tiredness and sleepiness;
- 1-6 hours in, a state of paralysis begins;
- 6-8 hours in, the disappearance of the paralysis, a sudden gain of energy, a state of robustness;
- 8-11 hours in, excessive urination of a reddish-liquid, presumably a mix of urine and blood;
- 11-21 hours in, dizziness and fatigue, in addition to chest pain;
21-35 hours in, death of subject due to heart failure and decomposition of blood vessels starts.

Summarization
PV-A, otherwise commonly referred to as “the Disease”, or “заболевание”, is a pathogen discovered inside PV-1 located in [REDACTED]. Samples of this disease are currently kept inside multiple top-secret makeshift labs built inside abandoned underground nuclear bunkers for more extensive research to eventually develop a biological weapon effective against a case of an international attack, mainly the United States, and a cure in case of an event of an epidemic inside of USSR’s land. PV-A appears to be resistant to acids and antibiotics such as penicillin, however, it is incredibly sensitive to temperatures above 40 degrees Celcius despite its tendency to infect the human body which possesses an average temperature of 37 degrees Celcius. Hot water seems to be the only substance that possesses the ability to weaken the virus, nevertheless, it is not an effective treatment due to its nature.
PV-A mainly inhabits dark and dingy areas of PV-1; most samples come from puddles of an unknown liquid caused by the possible condensation due to the expansive nature of PV-1. Traces of the pathogen had been discovered on the walls and floor before, however, it is significantly rarer due the difficulty of finding such a microscopic object. It seems to have killed off any living things that may also be previously present inside these liquids such as a bacterium, amoeba cells, or other pathogens that may or may not be deadlier than it.
PV-A is mainly transmitted by touch, a unique transmission method distinguishable from other pathogens. PV-A possesses this ability due to a retractable spike it has; upon contact with skin, the “spike” will appear and puncture the skin until it eventually enters the blood vessel. PV-A does not transmit through the air, even if one somehow manages to put the pathogen inside the lungs, it would not affect it. In addition to that, foods and liquids containing PV-A are safe to consume as they would pass down the digestive system; unable to puncture the organs. Oddly, an aftertaste of “umami and sweet flavor similar to a mix of MSG and baked beans” could be tasted upon 10-20 seconds of consumption.
Symptoms & Stages
PV-A’s symptoms remain unchanged and predictable due to its nature, possibly resulting in current known treatments of the virus being much more effective. Each symptom is divided into different stages; including:
- Tiredness, although with the difficulty of sleeping;
- Paralysis and loss of consciousness;
- A sudden state of robustness, an effect similar to the caffeine’s effect on one’s energy;
- Excessive urination of a liquid consisting of a mix of blood and urine, in addition to the beginning of blood loss
- Vomiting is caused by dizziness and fatigue, loss of appetite including water, in addition to chest pain
- Death of subject caused by heart failure; decomposition of the circulatory system including the heart starts
Stage 0
Occurs 5 minutes after contact with a substance containing PV-A, more commonly in liquids or splashing. There are no serious symptoms other than itchiness; hot water can still prevent from progressing into Stage 1 and any further infections which might result in death. Scientists had been documented to have experienced this stage, however, all survived. A high-pressured shower is an effective treatment if one shows signs of Stage 0.
Stage 1
Subject experiences sleepiness 20 minutes after Stage 0, however, it is difficult for them to due to constant nightmares and hypnic jerks occurring randomly during sleep. Currently known treatments such as hot water is ineffective and the chances of survival drops. Additionally, the temperature of the body would unknowingly drop to approximately 32 degrees Celcius; caused by PV-A's abnormal ability. It is still possible to survive even with the progress to Stage 1, although the chances of termination remain significantly higher.
Stage 2
Loss of muscle control on the arms, legs, and head; only being able to move the eyes. Sense of touch, smell, and taste disappears temporarily, in addition to limited visibility. Stage 2 starts approximately 1 hour after the previous stage, and chances of survivability drop to zero. 6 hours following the state of paralysis, subject may lose consciousness due to the disappearance of Stage 1, mainly the difficulty to sleep.
Stage 3
Disappearance of paralysis and the sudden gain of consciousness. Subject additionally experiences a state of robustness, a similar energy restoring effect caused by caffeine. Slight light-headedness may be experienced, however, it is an insignificant effect of Stage 3. Subject may be decease after 24 hours of losing consciousness.
Stage 4
Headaches occur, in addition to the loss of energy from the previous stage. The main symptom of Stage 4 is the subject's excessive urination of a mix of typical urine and blood. Samples of the liquid had been tested to possess 60% urine and 40% blood. The immune system seems to start attacking the pathogen, however their attempts on fighting of the pathogen remain ineffective to PV-A. Subject will experience Stage 4 only 2 hours after Stage 3.
Stage 5
Headaches from Stage 4 start to emerge to be more serious and painful. Constant vomiting of undigested food and occasionally blood caused by the sudden nausea, in addition to loss of appetite including water which might cause hunger and dehydration. Sudden hypothermia come later due to the body dropping to 28 degrees Celcius. Stage 5 occurs around 10 hours after Stage 4.
Stage 6
Death of subject due to several factors excluding suicide includes starvation, dehydration, hypothermia, and loss of blood. Stage 6 is commonly referred to as "the Decomposition Stage", as the virus begins to leave the subject's corpse to find the next victim and leave room for bacteria and other decomposers.
Stage 7

Description

A microscopic image of the the Mandela Virus.
Entity 7, otherwise known as the "Mandela Virus", is a pathogen commonly found inside Level 1 and Level 2. Discoveries of the Mandela Virus in other levels had been made before; however, they are mostly obscure and unconfirmed. The Mandela Virus typically inhabits dark areas possessing low temperatures, in addition to expired bottles of Almond Water. It is resistant to acids and Liquid Pain; however, temperatures lower than 40 degrees Celsius can cause significant damage to the pathogen.
The Mandela Virus mainly transmits via contact with the skin, regardless of if it belongs to a wanderer or an entity. It possesses a retractable spike to puncture the skin, even piercing tougher exteriors. After transmission, the virus will then make its way to the blood vessels to further infect the circulatory system. Contact with any carriers of the the Mandela Virus additionally transmits the disease, thus creating the need for all victims to be immediately quarantined.
Symptoms of the the Mandela Virus are consistent within each victim, but slightly deviate when it comes to when the symptoms will show. It is assumed that the mutation of the virus seems to have halted; the disease has reached its figurative "endpoint" in evolution, its final product. A characteristic supporting this theory is that the the Mandela Virus attacks every single organism excluding its own. It is the only cure for the Hound Virus and many other incurable diseases present in the Backrooms, albeit its inherent danger.
Symptoms
Symptoms of the the Mandela Virus are listed below, in addition to the timestamp of when the victim shows the symptoms following contact with the skin:
- 0-5 minutes in, itchiness on the area which made contact with the virus. It is possible to survive during this period by splashing drops of Almond Water or hot water;
- 25-60 minutes in, the victim will experience sleepiness, however, it is difficult due to the constant hallucinations or nightmares which could happen during sleep;
- 1-6 hours in, a state of paralysis. The victim would not be able to move their lower and upper body, only possessing an ability to move their eyes. In addition to the previously mentioned paralysis, one will lose consciousness depending on the severity of the symptoms. If they do not wake up after 24 hours, it is likely they are in a coma which will eventually lead to termination;
- 6-8 hours in, sudden gain of energy similar to the effect caused by caffeine. Following this period, the chances of survivability are low;
- 8-10 hours in, the energy from the previous period disappears. Excessive urination of blood and urine, and the start of blood loss.
- 10-20 hours in, vomiting of food and on occasion, blood. Due to this, the victim will lose their appetite including water, and rarely starve to death or dehydrate if the symptoms do not progress further.
- 20-35 hours in, death due to significant blood loss. Decomposition of the blood vessel starts; however, it is unknown how this virus can do such a thing.
Treatment & Prevention
Currently, known treatments such as Almond Water and hot water are the only substances that possess thee the ability to cure or at least halt the infection process of the the Mandela Virus. Chances of survival gradually decrease within each second, consequently, it is highly advised to act fast. Immediately pour Almond Water or hot water on the area of the skin which made contact with the the Mandela Virus, as previously mentioned. Wipe it off with a tissue or a towel afterward, and immediately search for a brightly lit-up area. If no supplies of Almond Water or hot water are visible, rub your hands on the area that made contact. It is not as effective as the previous method, however, it is the best way to prevent any further infections.
Be aware of dark areas inside Level 1 and Level 2; protective clothing would additionally prevent from an infection from the Mandela Virus. Do not wear clothing made from materials which absorb water, it would not protect one from the the Mandela Virus.
