Description

The Peripherals are the level-exclusive entities present on Level 188. They can appear as a single creature or as a group of beings, occasionally manifesting as an entity similar to one found in the Backrooms. They do not have a physical composition, being somewhat considered either as a shadow, or as a hallucination. These beings are unable to harm wanderers. The most prevalent forms that one may encounter would be either humanoids or Skin-Stealers, although the possibilities of the forms are virtually illimitable.
On Level 188, Peripherals can appear either while in the interior hallways of the main building, or somewhere around the central courtyard. Certain sources corroborate that they dwell in the windows, but they have yet to be validated.
Behaviors
Registering incidents with Peripherals are very difficult, because, as the name suggests, they only appear on the peripheral vision of an explorer. So far, we only have digital reconstitutions of the entity. According to different stories, they may chase humans when they are present, or they can stand still and stare in a certain direction. Albeit they have the ability to chase adventurers, they cannot touch other beings. Moreover, humans additionally can't physically contact them, expounding the fact that they don't die, presented below.
Biology
The Peripherals do not have a set lifespan because they do not die. Instead, they just emerge and go. Furthermore, they do not have specific birth/death dates. When appearing as a humanoid, it has most of the common structures, minus facial features. The color of their "skin" is a very deep black tone, with a bilious aura around.
Discovery
The first confirmed Peripheral sightings were seen in one of the hallways inside the building in Level 188, as documented by the M.E.G. organization. Earlier unconfirmed reports have also described similar beings.
