Description[]
The purported wielder of the Jawbreaker is an entity known as The Scourge.
The Scourge is a being of significant and frightening strength, possessing the appearance of a disgustingly disfigured and decaying goat-like humanoid. It exudes a horrific, pungent stench comparable to the scent of rotten flesh. Protruding from its head are various body parts belonging to a multitude of organisms, such as its disproportionate tongue and jutting crooked horns. These body parts do not seem to have originally belonged to the entity, as its horns visibly pierce through its flesh rather than stemming neatly from its head. This effect is likely due to the Jawbreaker's curse.
The Scourge's capabilities and influence are of terrifying caliber, capable of crumbling the most advanced civilizations beyond repair. The entity seems to be ostensibly inclined toward the immediate execution of its victims, being described as having a cruel, sadistic personality, as it is seemingly amused by the terror and pain it brings upon its victims. As such, The Scourge typically attempts to prolong the process of draining one's life, inflicting severe pain upon its victims before their untimely demise. Additionally, the entity's apparent destructive abilities have been observed to be capable of reaching even heavenly bodies, such as planets and stars. If the entity were to hypothetically unleash all of its energy at once, decimation would be brought upon hundreds of galaxies, leaving not even space in their place. Its primary method of causing widespread destruction is unleashing a powerful discharge of energy. Such energy is obtained via the absorption of the organic matter of its victims combined with consumed star matter, which it subsequently converts into usable material power, releasing or storing it.
The entity cannot speak or communicate due to the curse of its artifact. Attempts to persuade the entity to communicate have proven futile, but it has demonstrated the capacity to understand the intentions of those that wish to communicate. Under no circumstances should communication be attempted with The Scourge; regardless of the apparent safety measures one may have, its violent, tactical nature often leaves its victims little more than dust.
Behaviors[]
Attempting to record or predict The Scourge's actions has proven arduous, commonly resulting in inaccurate reports of its behavior. Its aforementioned sadistic personality is the most noticeable quality of the entity, as well as its immense knowledge of the concept of pain, such as seemingly understanding the exact areas of the body that contain the highest number of nerve endings, notably the fingertips and forehead, with the entity typically inflicting deep incisions in those areas whilst avoiding significant bodily damage to prolong the victim's life and thus prolong their pain.
The behavior of The Scourge typically leads to it initially being labeled as a mindless beast, one that relies on pure instinct and bloodlust. However, this has been shown to simply be a façade artificially constructed by the entity to increase the trauma brought upon its victims. Its lust for pain is difficult to comprehend, as its obsession reaches unfathomable bounds, going as far as the aforementioned extension of its victims' lives to prolong their torture. Survival is nigh-impossible upon encountering the entity, as even minuscule amounts of unnatural noise can trigger it to attack. While one may indeed survive an attack by the entity given the right circumstances, the very few individuals that have survived its attacks are left in critical condition, being permanently crippled and traumatized. To date, only three victims have ever been left alive, albeit left in a comatose state, as the others have ended their own lives afterward due to the immense mental trauma inflicted upon them.
Despite The Scourge's complete inability to communicate, its knowledge and intelligence of empathy undoubtedly surpass those of any human; it has shown insurmountable levels of skill in manipulating the past trauma of victims to increase their inflicted pain, and in separating physical and mental torture to presumably increase their respective effectiveness. Its unmatched intelligence is likely due to its extraterrestrial origins and dissimilar environment. It is primarily active within the Virgo Supercluster, and all lower-dimensional spaces are connected to that area of baseline reality; this includes the clusters of the Backrooms related to many intelligent races, including the human race.
Biology[]
As aforementioned, The Scourge's body is an amalgamated combination of various body parts seemingly originating from other beings, with it having several disproportionate horns, tongues, ears, and orifices strewn about its fleshy body. Its head contains the majority of the conglomerated extremities, with its horns marking its inevitable presence. In addition to the amount of damage its extremities are capable of causing to others, its body is exceptionally powerful. It is capable of destroying skulls with a mere flick of the hand, and has demonstrated immense durability against heavy firepower and ammunition with no visible signs of damage. Due to this, one should never engage in combat against The Scourge, as its unnaturally high durability paired with its destructive capabilities make it virtually unbeatable. Of note, pieces of dropped flesh from its body should not be touched, as the disease held within is highly infectious, with all currently-tested methods of cure failing to exterminate it from a victim's body.
Contact with The Scourge will immediately cause one's body to disintegrate instantly, leaving no discernible trace whatsoever. The destruction seemingly applies down to even the molecular level, as not a single living cell has been detected during autopsies of deceased victims. The cause of this disintegration appears to be the spores regularly released by the entity; simply making contact with a minute amount of such spores typically causes one's body to undergo an entire internal collapse. The entity has occasionally demonstrated control over the spores' severity; as mentioned before, it will typically weaken the inflicted decay to a noticeable degree, slowing it enough to allow the victims to live up to several hours before their death. Its aforementioned inability to communicate is the most mysterious feature of the entity; The Scourge is fully capable of producing sound, yet for reasons that, as of yet, remain unknown, it is unable to or refuses to use them for purposes of communication. Furthermore, it is unable to use items that allow writing and typing because hypothetical attempts will cause the item to decay into nothingness; as a result, any possible mode(s) of communication are deemed out of its capability.
Ancient Record[]
The following records describe events that led up to the entity's obtainment of the Jawbreaker, these records are mostly validated, thought cannot be entire proven due to the lack of knowledge about the entity.
Years passed, and its search for silence became an obsession; the flow of time became a dissipating concept. A sense of bloodlust dominated its disarrayed mind — its aggression grew alarmingly quick, morphing it into a cold, psychotic, desperate being, begging fate to give it silence. As it stumbled and hit a leaning structure, it again noticed a shift in the environment, though this new area exuded a different feeling. The silence and lack of life were exactly what it had searched for, but despite what it had hoped, it did not feel joy. Radiating from somewhere in the level was a sinister, yet surprisingly pleasant energy, though the source was unclear. Its desire to discover its source had replaced its previous lust for silence; with all its power, it sped across the level. Though this process took hours, wherever he went, the source never seemed to be nearer. As it started to end its search for the source, everything suddenly disappeared. This was starkly different from the typical experience of noclipping, though, as the surrounding darkness remained there. All lasting light dissipated, leaving it engulfed in a formless, lightless mass akin to a black hole. There was simply nothing, not a molecule of matter in sight. It felt a sudden, excruciating pain — the mass engulfing the entity seemed to be attempting to absorb it, its matter being torn away. The entity's power prevented it from being fully absorbed by the mass, however, leaving it in a painful cycle of constant devouring and repair. Perhaps this unseen devouring force was the cause of the stark lack of matter around it. Thirteen days of agonizing torture, constant cellular destruction, weakened the previously almighty entity. Slowly losing its strength, the entity did not believe the pain would end, convinced its death would be near; however, the instant it lost its strength to continue fighting the destructive spatial body, the entity suddenly fell, landing on pristine ground, fatigued from its unending efforts of survival. Towering over the dying entity was an indescribable temple, radiating the sinister energy it had felt just thirteen days prior. It gathered its remaining might and used it to traverse the temple's enormous interior, walking down a large, grandiose hall akin to a church gateway. Continuing its journey into the subterranean section of the main hall, it neared the source of the energy, where it found an impressive sight. Showcased in front of the entity was a breathtaking collection of eleven objects — an enormous Trident, a beautiful Scepter, a sphere inundated with fractal-like patterns. The sinister energy of the sphere attracted the entity, unknowing of its power. It weakly approached the artifact, soon making contact with it in an attempt to take it. As the sheer power of the process of an artifact's power transferring into a living host is physically incomprehensible, it is unknown what happened thereafter; however, whatever happened inside, whatever happened to The Scourge — be it good or bad — the artifact evidently took a toll on it.
Exiting the temple's main hall, an unrecognizable beast made itself seen. Its fractured skull, destroyed jaw, and rotting flesh made it apparent that it was no longer the being that had initially entered — it was The Scourge. In the palm of its hand was a sphere of fractal-like patterns — The Jawbreaker — making it clear that The Scourge successfully absorbed its power. Its sheer aura and power proved to be unfathomable; its decay had surpassed the laws of space, no longer requiring contact in order to annihilate its target. The entity initially did not wish to be disturbed, thinking to stay inside the impenetrable temple, but it soon changed its mind, overtaken by a lust for blood. The records shown above were recovered from within the confines of Level 94's temple. Their validity is yet to be fully proven, but their abundant and verifiable details give them merit. The records are theorized to have been written by an ancient civilization, approximately a Type 1 on the Kardashev scale. Overall, the records' origins and truthfulness are not fully known, nor fully validated due to the lack of necessary knowledge to obtain said information.
