Their Retainers are entities that at the beginning were human, but after a drastic change in them related to the Lightlurkers and Level 2250, they became Their Retainers. Being neutral, they will not be friendly but neither will they be hostile, they usually just want to be quiet. Their Retainers are worshippers of the Lightlurkers, and Their Retainers are theorized to be from much earlier, probably the first wanderers.

Behavior

The entity is neutral, it won't harm anyone if they don't attack or bother it, but they are not friendly either, they could probably leave you behind even if you are in mortal danger. These entities are constantly traveling in the levels they are located for some reason. These entities worship the Lightlurkers and think they are gods or spirits, especially the Titan Towers. These entities do rituals and texts dedicated to Lightlurkers, if you see Their Retainers in these activities NEVER interrupt them. These entities travel in groups of three and five people apparently, and they all walk in line unless something happens. These entities walk most of the day, but when they don't they set up camp, where they usually do their rituals.

These entities will attack if they have been harmed, an entity made them upset or the entity is against their thoughts. These entities can make appear tentacles on their backs, similar to those of Lightlurkers, that are connected to their bodies. These tentacles have eyes with which these entities probably see, and are completely covered in an unknown black, sticky liquid. These entities can make these tentacles extend up to ten meters. Now, if they catch you with these tentacles, they will try to kill you or take you to Level 2250, where by "Dark Influence" you will become one of them.

If one of these entities attacks you, just run until they don't follow you anymore, it is not recommended to fight back as you could be killed, or turned into this entity. To avoid these encounters, if you see a group of them, just stay away and do not say anything or bother them. Also do not approach their camps and ask for their help, especially if they appear to be performing a ritual, these entities have zero-tolerance.

Biology

These entities have a cloak that covers their entire body, this cloak has an old appearance, and they are gray or black. There are feathers on some parts of the cloak that are white on the bottom and black on the top, these feathers are long. The entity's face is black, and it is also covered by its cloak. Bright white eyes and mouth can be seen, although they are not very expressive. The entity maintains the height and weight of the person they were before they were turned into them, as well as their gender.

In addition to being able to attack with tentacles, these entities can heal, and even revive Lightlurkers. Believe it or not, there are ancient records that detail these entities healing and reviving Lightlurkers, but one of the biggest proofs is in the battle that almost extinguished them, at that time some groups were forming and starting to try to publish their information so that the battle could be informed to others, and to this day it is still in the M.E.G. archives.

Discovery

Their Retainers are known to be very old entities, that were around in the Backrooms even before other people arrived. Their Retainers used to be humans, but were captured by Lightlurkers and taken to Level 2250. Before they became what they are now, they thought they were gods and began to worship them. However, an effect known as "Dark Influence" at Level 2250 brutally corrupted these humans, turning them into Their Retainers.

Much later, historians from the Backrooms would have discovered information from that time and began to research the subject. The Their Retainers and Lightlurkers were already known about when The Zoneshifter level was discovered, but thanks to these historians, more were learned about these entities and their pasts.

  • Don't bother them, especially if they are doing something that may seem important.
