A sketch of an average toxin spitter, detailing its body parts and abilities.

Toxin Spitters are hostile humanoid entities named for their ability to spit dangerous toxins, known as Spitter Substance, up to a distance of 6 meters. They are described as short and completely hairless, and have a bone structure very similar to that of Hounds.

Description

Toxin Spitters have been said to closely resemble Hounds in appearance, but will possess a bulbous sack on their neck that inflates with every breath in a manner similar to the frogs of the Frontrooms. These sacks will be filled with hazardous liquids which act as acidic toxins which dissolve anything they come in contact with in just a matter of minutes.

Toxin Spitters are infamous for their ability to project these liquid toxins to distances upwards of 20 ft., and will often instantly neutralize their targets without them even getting the chance to fight back or even realize they are under attack. Fortunately, Toxin Spitters will generally only be able to spit a total of 6 times before running out of toxins, and it can take them up to 10 minutes to be able to recharge their supply enough to spit again.

Behavior

These entities are bipedal when idle and quadrupedal whilst actively hunting. Despite being rather fast (With their average top speed of 20 km/h), they aren't particularly strong, but do show some rudimentary intelligence, and have been known to retreat quickly from combat situations if injured. Their main habitats seem to be dark or dimly lit places, but they can be found in almost every level with a human presence in it.

Toxin Spitters typically travel alone, and react with hostility towards any living beings they encounter. Spitters will instinctively attack any entities they come across, and will typically aim for the chest rather than the head or other limbs, as those have a higher chance of missing. The preferred hunting technique for Toxin Spitters is to lurk in the distance unnoticed, and kill their victims instantly with a single, well aimed shot. Toxin Spitters are not afraid to attack groups 5-6 individuals, and will only retreat when injured or when they are severly outnumbered around 10 to 1.

Spitter Rash

Spitter Rash is a condition caused by contact with Spitter Substance. When a human is attacked and is hit by Spitter Substance and survives, there is a moderate chance of contracting the illness a few days after the encounter. Spitter Rash does not effect the whole body, only the place where the entity's saliva was present. Symptoms include boils containing a weaker version of Spitter Substance, rashes and holes appearing. Spitter rash is not fatal in most cases but leaves large scarring on the affected part of the body. It can occasionally be cured by Almond Water, but the best way to take care of it is by not straining the area affected.

Do's and Don'ts

Do:

  • Have some sort of body armor made out of strong metals to possibly negate the effect of the acid.
  • Stay at a distance and use a ranged weapon if engaging one..
  • Scare or intimidate them, flames work best.
  • Pour almond water on any acid burns.
  • Sever its mouth to limit the entity's range.
  • Blind it by piercing its eyes.

Don't:

  • Try to burst the entity's acid sac. It will leave you with an extremely dangerous acid on your body.
  • Fight them unarmored.
  • Run away, you have a better chance at survival if you face it head on and fight.
  • Eat them, your final meal will be very unpleasant.
