The Aegis Article
A Research by Dr. Abraham Anderson

Introduction

Abraham here, speaking in behalf of the 7th Detachment of the Major Explorer Group. If you're here, then you're either a new agent assigned for field missions, a part of the research team, manager of our division, or unauthorized user. Keep in mind that this is a confidential paper anyway, so whatever you learn here, will not go outside, unless under specific circumstances. If you're still reading, then I assume you're an authorized user. If not, then I applaud you for being able to dodge our security drones. If that's the case, then you should consider joining our task force.

Regardless, it is my responsibility to welcome you here.

The Aegis Article is my personal research project to study the entities of the Backrooms, their nature, origin, capabilities, and many more. After years of research, we've collected samples of entities to understand them to their deepest details. However, not everything is under our control, as some entities are far beyond our reach, to the point that we could only observe them much like how we study the stars far beyond our world. Indeed, the Backrooms is home to countless of entities we've yet to understand, but we gathered enough data, from concrete evidences to theories, in order to compile all the valuable information into a single document.

The purpose of the Aegis Article is not only to understand the entities, but also to protect mankind from them. By understanding their threats, we could prevent potential disasters. This document serve as database for protocols regarding manners of managing and neutralizing every possible threats, while acknowledging the fact that we might be powerless, and forced to rely on prevention measures.

The research focus not on generic, common entities, but rare, enigmatic and powerful entities. The study is not only about the threat they possess, but the nature of their power. Right now, I've separated all the documented entities into three classification, based on their overall capabilities.

  • Class Formidable: Entities that are stronger than common entities, but not powerful enough to be a threat at large. Usually manageable, requiring only standard soldiers sufficiently-armed with ordinary armaments, such as firearms and explosives.
  • Class Dominator: Entities that much stronger than common entities, enough to be considered as a boss entity. They tend to dominate other entities, capable of slaughtering a whole group of armed wanderers, and tend to cause extensive destruction. Do not engage with them without sufficient preparation, as even tools such as the Poolstones are barely even effective against these terrifying monstrosities.
  • Class Sovereign: Entities that are vastly stronger than common entities, enough to be considered as godly for many. They're among the most powerful entities of the Backrooms, and are capable of insanely devastating feats, that could pose threats even to superhuman figures. They're the top priority for us to handle, but if possible, avoid or appease them, in order to prevent unwanted conflict that may cost countless of lives. In case they ever let loose and becoming hostile, then mobilize any necessary force to subdue them.

Due to the fact that some entities shown different level of threats depending on situation and conditions, then we'll categorize the same entities to multiple entries based on their forms. Different theories are also accounted, according to what known of them so far.
