Intro

The Primaverse is a canon that uses realism to attempt an explanation of how the Backrooms could exist. This canon also attempts to explain how the Backrooms and possibly everywhere else was, could, and/or will be created. Basically, this is a canon trying to bind all of the ____rooms and universes together.

What truly are the Backrooms?

Most of us know the original excerpt about the Backrooms.

“If you're not careful and noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you'll end up in the Backrooms, where it's nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in

God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you”

The original excerpt is not the full answer to the question. We want to know what the Backrooms truly are. To answer this question, we must first analyze the transportation method to the Backrooms.

Noclipping

The way one travels between our universe and The Backrooms is via ‘noclipping.’ The definition of noclipping is “the action of travelling quickly enough to pass through a wall or any solid object.”[1]

Notice how the original 4-Chan excerpt states “If you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas.” Before we talk about the “out of reality,” we must address the “wrong areas.” The former has the latter in the explanation.

Wrong Areas

“Wrong areas” would imply that one can noclip to other places besides the Backrooms. Note that this is only talking about noclipping out of reality, not necessarily other places within it. In the Backrooms canon, there are ways that can increase the chance of noclipping into the Backrooms.[2]

“There isn't a guaranteed method of achieving this, as it occurs inconsistently. However, there are some tips to increase the chances of entering the Backrooms. One method is to find an ‘entrance.’ These are glitches in reality that lead to the Backrooms, but they occur extremely rarely.”

Inconsistent noclipping must mean ‘portals’ to the Backrooms are not stable. The ‘entrances’ must be more stable, but are still not.

Out Of Reality

What do they even mean by “out of reality”? What even is “reality”? Is “reality” Earth or the whole universe?

The definition of reality is “the quality or state of being real.”[3] This means that reality encompasses everything that we know to be real. We can conclude that “reality” is only referring to the universe that we know. This leaves three options.

  • The Backrooms are in the un-observable universe or are in a different universe.
  • The Backrooms anomalously clip with the Frontrooms.
  • The Backrooms can fit in between items.

The first option is the most plausable with our current understanding of the universe. The other two are more interesting. But which option would it be?

Where Are The Backrooms?

  • The first option would simply mean that the Backrooms are in an undiscovered place. That would mean no-clipping would be some sort of portal to a far land or a different dimension. Not necessarily a wormhole as it is a one-way portal.
  • The anomalous clipping has no scientific explanation. The worlds would both be in the same spot, but one is not visible from the other. This option would mean that no-clipping would not teleport at all. This noclipping would have an ‘entrance’ where the wall or object in both dimensions are in the same spot.
  • The third option would revolutionize some of our science. The Backrooms fitting between items would mean that it either combines with option 2 or some walls randomly open up a pocket dimension that shrinks wanderers into it.

The Backrooms Connecting With Other Dimensions

For this section, we must revisit the concept of noclipping. Remember that the Backrooms are “noclipping out of reality in the wrong areas.” We discussed earlier that this means noclipping to other dimensions besides the Backrooms would be possible.
