Level ! Description

Corridor-B Description


Level ! consists of a rather long hallway, approximately ten kilometers in length, with architecture resembling that of a hospital and flashing red Klaxons screeching emergency alert sounds throughout the hallway. Numerous medical rooms line the hallway though few can be opened, with most sealed shut, as if, in a last-ditch effort, the area went under lockdown following the infestation. Almost like attempted barricades, hospital beds, chairs, even vending machines once filled with Almond Water, lay strew in the hallway. Little is known about anomalous nature of the level, besides what remains in the aftermath of its widespread entity infestation. Should one find themselves in Level !, they should immediately seek the exit, which, inconveniently, is located on the opposite side of the 10 km hallway from which most wanderers find themselves.

Incident A: Discovery Of Level !

The following is an audio log received from Operative Noah, a member of a colony called "The Survivors" that was delivering valuable information about The Followers of Jerry from Level 2, when he anomalously appeared in Level !.

<BEGIN LOG>

[8:26 AM] Noah - I did what you ordered. Don't worry, don't worry, I've got everything about Jerry's followers, along with their secrets.. I actually almost got caught in doing so.

Base - Alright, good work Operative. Return to base as soon as possible. Entities are quite common near Jerry's Room.

Noah - Yeah alright, I think I can make it in about 4 or 5 hours. Wait- that wall definitely wasn't there before. It... seems as if I've reached a dead-end??

Base - Remain calm, there must be a way around it.

There is a pause in the audio.

Base - Hello? Do you copy? Where the hell are you!?

Noah - I... I think I've noclipped into another level.. this level, it looks off though, like different from the other levels I've been to.

Base - Please describe what you see Operative.

Noah - It's a hallway, but it's... strangely distorted. There are lights flashing bright red, and some screeching alarm noise that just won't stop blaring!

Audible sigh of frustration

Noah - I just tried opening some doors in the hallway, but they all seem to be locked.

Base - Noted. Please proceed down the hallway until you find an exit.

Noah - Holy- I hear footsteps behind me; there, there must be hundreds of them!

Sounds heavy footsteps echoing down the hall can be heard

Base - Remain calm. We're sending in a team from Level 2 to investigate this abd find a way to get you out of the-

Noah - I REALLY NEED SOME HELP! THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF ENTITIES BEHIND ME! I- I'm running through the corridor, but I don't know how long this goes!

Heavy breathing can be heard.

Noah - Hello? Base! Shit, I lost the signal; I'm on my own now... OH SH-, THE ENTITIES ARE CATCHING UP!

There is a pause in the audio for around an hour, and nothing but heavy breathing and footsteps are audible.

[9:14 AM] Noah - Oh God, how long have I been running? The entities are getting closer! Oh! I- I think I see an exit sign!

Hyperventilating, fast-paced breathing is heard.

Noah - OH, COME ONNN! AHHH-

Audible screams can be heard before being cut off by the sound of a loud snap

What little remained of Operative Noah was recovered by other Operatives soon after; a blood-stained unform designated to Operative Noah, resting in a dark pool of blood.

Entities

Level ! is known to have a rather large entity infestation, one that makes colonization completely infeasible until all entities are exterminated. The following are some of the many entities that have been observed in the Level,

Colonies and Outposts

Due to the nature of Level !, the establishment of a colony or outpost is currently infeasible.

Entrances and Exits

Entrances

  • When least expected, entry is possible from any level of the Backrooms.
  • On rare occasion, entering faulty elevators can lead here.
  • One may enter this level by noclipping under a table in Level 521 (specifically in the 521-A section) that has "!" written on it.
  • Wandering in Level 354 provides a guaranteed gateway into this level when a certain thought arises.
  • If you die before a year has passed in Level 365, you will be sent here.
  • Turning around in Level 1007 will bring you here.
  • Entering "out-of-bounds" areas in Level 357 will lead one to this level.
  • Turning around in Level Frown and trying to run will lead one to this level.
  • Noclipping through Level 2020 will transport one to this level without supplies.

Exits

  • Reach the end of the 10 km long hallway and open the exit door, to be transported back to the level from which you came or, if unlucky, find yourself back at the level entrance, with the door fading into just another dead-end, and reluctantly run the course, once more.
  • Dying in this level has a very rare chance to lead to Level Rush.
  • Noclip through the ground to reach Level 52; this is extremely difficult.
  • Noclipping through one of the hallway doors may lead to The End.
  • Falling asleep in this level may transport one to Level 139.
  • One rare occasions, coming across a vent and entering it will lead to the Maze of Vents.
  • Rarely, one may find two open doors, one on each side of the hallway; entering any of the two doors will lead one to Level 7191.
