Prologue
It all started with that day, the day my life took an unexpected turn, for one day you are at home comfortably and quietly but the next you find yourself in an endless maze of fluorescent lights, yellow walls and wet carpets, I will tell you how it started, if you are seeing this, it may be that i am returned home or im dead, anyways I will tell you:
It was an ordinary morning, I was on my way to my university, I entered and noticed that the atmosphere was ominous, something I had never experienced since that day that a thick fog covered the whole town, when I entered I noticed that there was something different in the structure of the place, as if it had changed overnight, when I entered the science faculty, I noticed a hallway that was out of place, I had never seen that hallway since I started studying here, there was something inside that hallway that called my name, the hallway looked different in style to the whole building, that hallway was yellow with old wallpaper, the lights on the ceiling were buzzing non-stop, as if they hadn't been changed in years, I felt a fear when I was near that hallway, my mind said not to enter, but my body wanted to enter, and that's when I made that mistake, that mistake of entering that damn hallway, my mind knew it, I entered that hallway and took a wrong step and fell through the floor, from there I lost the consciousness of what happened.
Chapter 1 - Out Of Place
When I woke up, I noticed that I had entered the rest of that misplaced hallway, the whole place was a chaotic monotomy of yellow wallpaper, an irritating sound of buzzing fluorescent lights, that was followed by the terrible smell of wet carpets, that place was familiar to me for some reason, as if I had visited it in my childhood but I don't remember. I was very confused and scared, so much so that I decided to follow a very important rule that my father said: "my son, if you ever find yourself in an unknown place, look for the exit and don't look for the sounds", and who would have thought, that rule would serve me when this day came.
Days have passed since I last saw sunlight, I can barely remember what it was like to walk in the hot sunlight, I can barely remember what it was like to walk on grass and not on a damp old carpet, time has passed since i entered this place, as if entering here was written in my destiny, the fluorescent lights have become a perfect companion, the wallpaper relaxes me for some strange reason, that yellow monotone fills me with tranquility and fear at the same time, I think living here would be a good idea, well, not such a good idea as we say, the environment smells like a wet carpet, the lights are all on without the presence of a functional switch to turn them off, and of course how not to forget, the plugs in poor condition, how lucky I am.
All the time I came across corridors and rooms out of place, these corridors and rooms did not make any sense, there were some that crossed each other, corridors that were long but short, nothing in what was here made even the slightest sense, my mind was twisted to see all that did not make sense, there was even furniture passing through the walls, how crazy was that, as if it were a video game.
All the rooms were almost the same, one after the other, there was not a room that was similar to one that I had seen before, as if walking in circles, each room had out-of-sense furniture, there were armchairs, old televisions, vinyl turntables, beds and more than you can imagine, I mean, I could create a shelter to stay in if it weren't for the malfunctioning plugs and buzzing lights, and not forgetting the lack of internet, that there is no fucking internet connection around, how wonderful.
Chapter 2 - "Yellow Halls"
Then in the distance I heard something, a distorted music, combined with the buzzing sound of the fluorescent lights, the music was classical type, the music got louder every time I got closer to the source, it was an old radio from the 1920s, this radio was playing distorted music, I could barely identify what they were, some were Bethoveen's fifth symphony, ballroom music, Al Bowlley's music, then between moments there was static and in the middle of that static I could hear a voice, I couldn't recognize the words coming out of the voice.
then suddenly that radio turned off, and I saw that behind that radio it worked with batteries, I must assume that the batteries were exhausted or a battery came out of its place, I tried to fix the radio, and if I was successful, I could again hear static, but it wasn't coming from the radio this time, it was coming from somewhere else, that static was coming from a distant hallway, that static had no origin, it grew more distant each time I got closer, and when I got to the supposed origin of the static, I found myself in a little bit darker version of where I was, the yellow wallpaper was a light yellow, the carpet had been uprooted and the lights did not transmit a buzz, the lights barely illuminated the place, a chill ran down my spine entering this place.
My mind knew that I had to get out of this place anyway, I didn't want to know what was beyond my understanding or what or who was waiting for me in the distance, this place is driving me crazy, I can't take it anymore .
Chapter 3 - "The End?"
The effect this place has on my mind has given me an enormous sense of reality, as if this place is its own reality, or as if it is on the outskirts of reality, this is like living a nightmare come true, this is my destiny, to wander these empty halls and rooms in search of an exit back to my home and hoping to find at least someone out there, I don't know what is waiting for me for every step I take, for every breath I take, Who knows, one day I might find myself lying in bed like none of this ever happened in the first place.
If anyone is reading this, it may be that I am back home or I am dead, bye.
To be continued...
