Slashers are a rare but extremely dangerous class of Entity found in the Backrooms.
Description
"A Slasher. It’s a type of undead I suppose... like the Insanities only much more powerful and vastly more intelligent and sadistic. They are Wanderers who were too angry to die, returning from the dead but leaving their humanity behind as a result. They are now vengeful revenants, monstrous caricatures of their former selves driven only by a mindless compulsion to kill." ― Sector FB director, Anastasia Valentin’s report on Slashers.
Some examples of Slashers
Slashers are a breed of undead entities that take many forms but the two things they all share in common is their origins and omnigenocidal nature. Slashers were once wanderers who met their demise in the Backrooms with Devil’s Ambrosia in their bloodstreams, the accursed flower resurrecting them as mindless, undead killers with an unquenchable lust for blood.
Slashers kill indiscriminately and will pursue anything considered alive, this means Slashers will go after both Wanderers and Entities alike, the only beings they have been observed to not attack unless provoked to are Insanities and other Slashers.
Slashers will often wander the levels they inhabit looking for any and all living, breathing life to brutally murder and once they have found suitable prey, nothing can stop them until they have drawn blood, nothing.
Slashers each have a unique theme and appearance that often references who they were when they were alive, often to an exaggerated degree, such as a wanderer with a background in comedy returning as a killer clown.
Many Slashers wield a “signature” weapon that they use to kill, usually a bladed weapon which is where Slashers get their name. Some Slashers even have multiple weapons they alternate between. Every Slasher has their own method and strategies for killing. On top of this, many Slashers develop Supernatural Abilities that often coincide with multiplies factors such as the circumstances of their deaths or their backgrounds, such as with “The Taxidermist” who has the uncanny ability to reanimate dead animals including his chimeric taxidermy creations and command them to kill for him.
It has been observed that animals and even Entities can become Slashers as long as they had Devil’s Ambrosia in their systems when they died.
Properties
Slashers are essentially immortal, being able to survive virtually anything and shake off any kind of damage sustained whether it be bullets, fire, acid, electricity etc. but a Slasher’s endurance and tolerance to certain types of damage depends on the individual Slasher.
Even when a Slasher appears to be dead, they’re actually in a coma-like state known officially as a “Resurrection Period” which a Slasher enters when they sustain too much damage and their bodies need to take time to regenerate. Even when a Slasher has been blown to smithereens, their bodies will eventually reform and they will awaken to kill again. How long a Slasher’s resurrection period lasts depends on the damage taken, being blown apart for example could take a Slasher months to recuperate but they will always get back up.
All Slashers have the pitch black nectar of Devil’s Ambrosia running through their veins instead of blood, said nectar gives them their power and is believed to be what keeps them “alive” and gives them their regenerative properties.
Killing is a Slasher’s one and only purpose and they are highly proficient in the art of killing. As a result, they are capable of improvising exceptionally well and formulating strategies to get the upper hand and kill their victims. Aside from their signature weapon, Slashers are highly proficient in using any weapon they pick up and can use any object as a weapon as well.
Once a Slasher has found a victim, they will “imprint” on that victim and they will not stop until they have killed them. They will even follow their victims to other levels, as they are capable of noclipping, being wanderers themselves once. Slashers also have an incredibly long memory span and will remember faces and voices of multiple potential victims for years at a time. Some Slashers have been known to imprint on multiple victims at once.
Actually defending yourself from a Slasher is near impossible unless prior knowledge of a particular Slasher’s weaknesses or possession of advanced weaponry such as Super Weapons, hand-to-hand combat is an especially useless endeavor in most circumstances due to all Slasher’s possessing the strength of ten men and a complete immunity to pain.
Once a Slasher has picked you as their victim, pick a god and pray…
M.E.G. Response
"Following the incident involving a “Slasher” tracking an agent back to one of our Prime bases during a level sweep, resulting in an unprecedented amount of casualties, The council and I have come to the conclusion that these undead wanderers are a Level 9 threat that must be dealt with for the sake of not only us, but all fellow Wanderers." ― M.E.G. Overseer, Lucifer Magnus addressing Slashers.
Multiple Slashers in their cells
The M.E.G. have concluded that Slashers are a high level threat to all wanderers due to their unwavering bloodlust, persistence in pursuing multiple prey and ability to noclip on command and have made efforts in containing them.
Due to the apparent immortality of Slashers, the M.E.G. can only contain Slashers at Warehouse X, a maximum security base built specifically to transport and house Slashers to be experimented on for the purposes of discovering a way of disabling the Slasher’s immortality and effectively neutralize them. Because of this, M.E.G. research on Devil’s Ambrosia and the effect it has on those that consume it are all held at Warehouse X.
All Slashers are each contained in their own subjective reality, trans-dimensional, “pseudo space” cells that make them incapable of noclipping through. Slashers are also outfitted with high-power electric collars when applicable to further ensure sufficient containment.
Extensive efforts have also been made in the retrieval, containment or even outright destruction of the Devil’s Ambrosia due to the threat it poses in creating new Slashers any time a wanderer discovers and intentionally ingests them, the booming Slasher population being evident of the flower’s widespread influence. Team Magnolia and Team Rose are appointed to retrieve the flower for scientific research and destroy large “hives” of it respectively,

Notes
- ”Slasher” is in reference to a sub-genre of horror films where a killer stalks and kills a group of characters (typically teenagers) one by one. This includes films like Friday The 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween.
- Slashers commonly change drastically in appearance upon becoming Slashers such as in the case of “Mr. Teddy” who takes the form of a “possessed” teddy bear. The Devil’s Ambrosia essentially transmitting his consciousness to a stuffed bear that was on his person at the time of his death.
- The intelligence of a Slasher varies from specimen to specimen, some display complex thoughts, personalities etc. while others are more simple and can’t even speak but all Slashers possess a natural hunting instinct and even the seemingly simpler, more brutish ones can display ingenious maneuvers and develop complex strategies if it will aid them in killing their next victim.
- Slashers typically retain remnants of their personality but in a much more exaggerated and twisted way. Some of them however have become simple, mindless killers and shadows of their former selves.
- Some of the more monstrous or inhuman Slashers can be mistaken as other kinds of Entities, they can be identified as Slashers by noting the abundance of Devil’s Ambrosia nectar flowing through their veins instead of blood as all Slashers share this.
- Super Weapons have been shown to be very effective against Slashers.
