Backrooms Wiki

So shiny… yet so delicate.

Children's toys. You remember those, yes? Those hard, round, glassy spheres that made a satisfying "clang" upon contact with each other. We collect those. We manipulate those.

Usual marbles continuously roll until friction stops it in its tracks. Not here.

Our marbles roll on forever. They gain momentum, and when they finally strike, the result is devastating.

The so-called "well-meaning" groups have a corrupt side to them. They'll hide info from you. Experiment on you. Watch you die just to get "useful info" out of you.

We're talking the M.E.G., the Backroom Colonists, the Evergreen Federation.

The operatives, officers, and recruits are pawns in their little games without knowing it.

Corruption in the group gains momentum, and when it finally strikes, it overthrows the good, replacing it with evil.

We're not looking to cause chaos. We're just looking for answers.

But if violence is necessary to restore order, so be it. We'll be willing to engage.

Code of Conduct

The Marble Mafia, named as such because of its members' excessive infatuation for marbles, is a highly-organized criminal organization hell-bent on wreaking havoc inside the Backrooms. The three major Backrooms groups — the M.E.G., the Backroom Colonists, and the Evergreen Federation — have teamed up to take down this crime syndicate, run by an anonymous mask-wearing "Truth Seeker." Attempts to uncover the leader's identity have failed, as he appears to be relatively resistant to bullets.

Their end goal is unknown. The accusations of the Big Three having "corrupt side[s]" to them is completely unfounded and when repeatedly asked for evidence, the Marble Mafia have refused to provide it. All they do is send taunting, cryptic messages written in invisible ink on white sheets of paper, mailing them to certain officials and operatives. We are unsure why specific operatives are targets for these letters, but we theorize that they will ultimately be the targets of assassination attempts. To further support this theory, when exposed to heat, the messages will always read "THE END IS NIGH."

However, we do know from spies who have infiltrated the group that while lacking in morals and eager to cause destruction, the mafia does have a code of conduct that it lives strictly by:

1. Do not cause harm unless necessary.
2. Never take your mask off.
3. Unravel the truth.

Appearance

Each member of the mafia wears a golden mask that completely obscures his facial features, a black blazer, and a white dress shirt. The leader wears similar attire, but his blazer is red, possibly to allow other mafia members to identify him easily. No mafia member has ever been identified — even DNA testing is unable to identify any deceased mafia members.

When the mask is taken off, the member's face appears to be devoid of any facial features, similar to that of Facelings. However, when alive, these members have the capacity to talk, raising a question of how they manage to do so. In fact, autopsies have showed that members lack any body parts whatsoever — their actual composition is similar to that of a mannequin.

Behavior

While not inherently hostile, the members of the mafia will follow orders. They can be seen peacefully conversing with wanderers, but any question relating to their leader will result in a cold shoulder, with the member running away.

When in the presence of their leader, the mafia members will stand still until the "Truth Seeker" gives out orders, which they will carry out synchronously without question.

The Truth Seeker

A bold, courageous, extremist mafia leader, the Truth Seeker manipulates everything to his will, seeking to liberate the Backrooms wanderers from the grips of the Big Three. He will send threats, carry out attacks, and perform assassinations to get his way. Bullets will not harm him, as his attire, including the mask, are all bulletproof.

Researchers cannot agree on whether he is human, but his mannerisms appear similar to that of a business executive. His voice sounds impressively formal and charming, as though every word he says is part of a job interview.

He will not engage in violence personally. He lets his mafia members do the dirty work.

Operations

The Big Three is currently leading spy operations to infiltrate the mafia's headquarters. Each spy dons a golden mask, black blazer, and white dress shirt to blend in with the mafia members, then attempts to find an area where a massive group of them reside, where they will then try to blend in.

However, the Truth Seeker is aware of this, but because of the uniformity of his members, he struggles to identify which members are truly spies. Hence, he attempts a different approach.

He will intentionally leave out golden masks on the ground, hoping that some operative picks it up and wears it, believing they have the upper hand against the mafia. This tactic has succeeded, as the masks, while appearing exactly identical to the ones the mafia members wear, in fact corrupt the wearer’s mind and turn them into a killing machine. Unfortunately, there is no way to distinguish the two, making spy operations rather difficult.
