Scene 1 - Entering

He hated enclosed spaces with a passion. Ever since he was young, he had felt that there was something fundamentally wrong about small rooms. What he hated most was when there were no windows. When he had been young and forced to sit in the small classroom in his underfunded public school, he would gain peace of mind by looking out the windows into the grassy field of daisies where the playset stood. But where he was now, there were no windows. His name was Reed Todd and he was attending his friend's child's birthday party.

"Close your eyes and make a wish!" his friend exclaimed to his child. Reed forced his face into a smile. Under normal circumstances he had no problem spending time with children - he just couldn't stand the room they were in. Why did his friend have to have the party in this hellish place? Why couldn't they have it outside? Or at least in a place with windows. At the very least, his friend could have had a party in a place that actually looked nice! Reed found the yellow wallpaper of the room to be revolting.

Finally, Reed found that he could no longer stand being in the room. He quickly excused himself from the party and began making his way down the hallway toward the staircase that lead to the exit. As he was walking, he felt an indescribable sensation come over him, like the whole world was somehow wrong. He suddenly realized that he had been frozen into position mid step; he could also feel that the air in the room was just as frozen as his body - it was as if the whole world had stood still. He couldn't tell how long he stood there, it could've been a second, it could've been an eternity, but its end was sudden and without warning. Reed fell down to the ground as time came back to the world, but the profound sense of wrongness did not leave him.

Reed felt more terrified than he had ever felt in his life. He quickly ran through the hallway to get to the staircase, but where the staircase should have been, there was only another yellow room. But thisn

Reed could feel his heart beating in his chest. He could feel his breath quickening. He could feel the sweat on his brow. He saw an exit and ran out of it only to find himself in a larger yellow room. He franticly looked around himself, but all he saw was a maze of yellow walls, all with the same yellow wallpaper. He fell down onto his knees, and screamed. He could feel his body entering into shock. He could feel liquid from his stomach making its way up his throat. He got onto his hands and vomited onto the floor, then he rolled on his back and passed out. As he passed out, he saw the field of daisies in his mind, and he knew in his heart that he would never see it again.

Scene 2 - Waking up in a Nightmare

The white daisies rustled slightly in the wind. Children ran through the grass barefoot, all of them lost in worlds beyond the mundane aspects of life. Someone had climbed up onto the roof of the mighty wooden playset that reigned over the field. The climber sat atop the roof and knew that he was the king of the world. He looked upon the children with their limitless possibilities, and he looked upon the daisies living peacefully in the grass, and he looked upon the clouds that moved above him. He gave names to the clouds. He imagined that the daisies spoke to him and told him their wisdom. He saw a child calling to him and knew them to be a friend. As he prepared to climb off of his playset, he felt that the world was endless and limitless.

The clouds turned dark and blew thunder onto the earth. The daisies were blown away. The children looked at the boy and screamed as their skin melted from their bodies. In but a few small moments where the children stood happy they now stood screaming without skin. Their beating hearts burst from their chest and their blood was black like tar.

They ran to the playset and began climbing toward the roof. The boy screamed in horror and looked to the sky for salvation. He felt the eyes of the sky look down at him and he heard a voice of thunder. The voice of thunder spoke to him as lightning fell from above. It spoke to him in a voice that ripped trees from the ground. It spoke to him in a voice that was as cold as space and as hot as the stars. It spoke to him in a voice that filled all of heaven and earth. "BEHOLD YOUR KINGDOM, OH LORD OF THIS WORLD" it said to him. There was no anger in it, no malice, no sarcasm. The words of the voice were as emotionless as stone.

The wooden playset, his castle, his fortress - it collapsed in on itself and the boy fell down with it. The skinless children ran at him with black tar blood oozing from their bodies. They surrounded him and he heard them chanting something. He looked for a place to run but there was nowhere he could go. The once limitless world had become a small bloody prison They ripped at him, at his clothes, at his skin, at his face. They leaned over him and began to bite into his body. They opened their mouths wide and ripped large chunks of flesh from his body. He looked in horror as one of them ripped his intestines out and slurped them into their mouth. The pain was unbearable, but it slowly began to fade. He knew that he was dying. He felt ebony darkness embrace him. He let the darkness take him.

In a previous lifetime he had been a boy, but that life already seemed like an eternity ago. Slowly he drifted up into the sky. The screams and growls of those below him had no effect on him. As he approached the sky, he heard the voice of thunder speak to him as it had once spoken to him before. It told him something that was too sacred to be known by the living. It told him its name. Then it t blew him back down into the ground and into his body. The skinless children were struck dead by lightning and their bodies lied beside his. He felt his body decompose and become dirt in the ground, then he fell asleep.

He awoke in the moist earth. He felt purpose fill him. He struggled against the ebony warmth, growing his body upward. At last he pierced the veil of dirt and felt the sun against his green flesh. He soaked in the light of the sun and let it flow into him. He used the light to grow his green body upward. At last he became tall enough that he formed something very special within himself. When the time came he opened it up raised his flower towards the sun. The flower sat there for a time but slowly it decayed just as his body decayed. But even as he decayed, the seed from his flower was scattered and the children of his seed filled the whole field. Season after season passed by until one day the whole world was full of the seed. And they were at peace

But then a buzz filled the world, an insane monotonous buzz, and once more the seed knew fear. They forgot the name of the voice of thunder and they felt themselves drift into another world of pain. They realized that they were not daisies, they were a man, a man named Reed Todd, and the man had awaken.

Scene 3 - Focused on Escaping

Reed Todd groaned as he slowly woke up. His nostrils were immediately assaulted by an awful smell. As he looked upon his body, he was disgusted to realize that he was drenched in his own vomit. He slowly sat up and looked at his surroundings. All around him there were yellow walls. He was confused. He didn't know where he was. He managed to get off of his feet and stared at the yellow hallway in front of him. As he stared, he began to remember. He remembered his friends birthday party. He remembered leaving his friends birthday party. He remembered being frozen in time.

And he remembered being unable to escape.

Reed Todd could feel stress moving into the back of his mind, but he knew that he couldn't give in. Having another mental breakdown would not help him - he had to stay focused. He looked at the vomit on the ground, he could use that as a landmark. He looked down on his vomit drenched overshirt. He could rip it into pieces and use the pieces to mark different locations. Like Hansel and Gretel, he would leave a trail for himself.

Slowly, Reed Todd made his way through the the maze of yellow hallways, leaving bits of cloth from his overshirt on the ground so that he could make his way back if he needed to. As he made his way through the monotonous labyrinth, he began to realize that something was deeply wrong with its structure. He backtracked and then went down another path, keeping track of every left and right that he took. To his shock, he realized that the configuration of the rooms looped around in a way that should be impossible. Euclidean geometry did not apply to this place. Reed leaned his head against the wall as thoughts fluttered through his mind. What was this place? How did he get here? How was this even possible? Nothing seemed to make any sense.

Without warning, he was jolted from his thoughts by a piercing scream. He turned toward the direction of the sound, but whatever had made the it was blocked by a wall. As he stared at the wall, he could feel adrenaline rushing through his body. He couldn't bring himself to approach the wall, and he couldn't bring himself to turn his back to it. All he could do was slowly walk backwards, away from whatever made the scream. He thought for a moment that maybe it could be another person that he should help, but all of his instincts were screaming at him that he did not want to get close to whatever was behind that wall.

As he stepped backwards, he heard snickering from the behind the wall. The sound was unlike any voice he had ever heard, it was high pitched yet also guttural. He knew in that instant that he had to get away. He turned his back and began running as fast as he could. But just as he turned, he saw something red peak from the side of the wall.

Reed ran through the maze of yellow hallways. Something else ran behind him. The thing let out a wail that was halfway between ecstasy and pain. Reed did not look behind him. The realization that he was running away from the trail he had laid was of little importance. He hd to get away. He had to get away. He had to get away.

Something very wet grabbed Reed's arm. He quickly pivoted his body and kicked the thing. It screamed and took a few steps back. Reed also screamed. He now knew what he was running from. Whatever skin the thing possessed was red and raw, but many areas of its body were completely flayed. Muscle and sinew were visible all over its body. The beating of its heart was visible in its damaged torso. There were no cheeks on its face, only a wide smile that stretched from eye to eye. Its teeth were like long needles and its eyes were rotted and black. Reed thought the creature couldn't possibly see out of its black rotted eyes. But as he thought that, the black orbs looked looked straight into his own eyes, and he knew that it saw him. Neither he nor the thing moved, they just stared at each other.

Reed wanted to run, but he was so close to the thing that he knew he couldn't turn his back. He took a step backwards. The thing took a step forward. Their eyes remained locked the whole time.

Step by step anxiety flown through his veins and memories of his family shot through his mind, he inhaled, said his prayers, and ran. It was quick but he didn't care, he ran and ran till he couldn't breathe. Reed didt wanna die, he found a door! But the same second he did, an immense slash ran through his back. He dropped down, he had to make it, he knew it would get him outta this hellhole. He crawled and crawled maintaining eye contact. He wasn't gonna die. But it had other plans, he held his arm out as some sort of protection. It was gonna drown him, but a gunshot was heard.
