Tale of the Sunken Sailors
Chapter 1
How do I start? Well, its been about.. 118 days since I enter.. well.. The Backrooms as its called. I swear this place is weird as hell, but I guess I lost my right to even refer to it as weird. This is the new normal, my new "reality". And no, I'm not just talking about The Backrooms but I'm also referencing my current state in this.. God forsaken place. I am a Mold now. I never physically age and I'm getting no closer to death, it may never come. Nothing can kill us, except, well.. soap. And other cleaning supplies. But is it really death? How do we know that they actually 100% kill us. Have you ever seen a soap or some sort of chemical spray they killed 100% germs? And no, I'm not talking about how they advertise that shit. The can says it kills 99% of germs but sometimes its almost like it killed only 50%. I guess that's something I won't miss about The Frontrooms, especially now that I'm a rotten freak. However I've learned to make the best out of my current situation. Made myself a home in Level Mold, for well.. obvious reasons. Not to big, nor too small. Pretty neutral territory. Doesn't require a lot of space mainly because storage isn't an issue since we don't need to food, nor do we need a place to make a fire in case we get cold which according to the non-mold infected people, this place is cold as hell. We don't really even need to sleep, however we try to of course, but all we're doing at the end of the day is laying down and closing our eyes, staring into black nothing. We don't even get tired so. whats the point? I guess this is where I introduce you to the crew, well, as we call ourselves, the Sunken Sailors. We all decided on that name, felt fitting and comfortable for our situation. Its like if a bunch of amputees called themselves The Limbless Legion or if a bunch of Homeless called themselves "The Houseless Hoodlums". I can't say I was the one who brought up the idea however, it was mostly Matt's. Matthew Keller is probably the most hyper positive one in the group. Everything to him is optimistic. If he saw a dead body (which he has) he'd just crack a joke about it and move on. The guy is also obsessed with martial arts because of that damn game "Street Fighter" he really thinks he could karate kick a partygoer through a wall because he thinks the Mold gave him super powers or some shit. Pretty ridiculous to me but I admire his bravery. Then there's Zachary Yang, he's Chinese, don't know why that needed to be mentioned but I felt like it did. He's a great guy though, he's always alert and ready to kick ass when he needs to. He also gets along with Virgil Austin very well, Virgil or as everyone else calls him "Austin" is probably the most serious one in the group, besides me. Virgil I'm sure this guy could rip a Partygoer in half. He's not that built and is a bit more skinnier for someone with his strength but yeah. On the topic of strength, Ray Bates is an Ex-US Military Soldier. He carries that like a badge but a badge to me would be the guy who invents Free Healthcare in America. Ray and Virgil always talk no matter the situation and its got me wondering a few things about them. But I'm not concerned, they aren't stupid like Matt, I'm sure they aren't doing anything wrong. Then there's this one kid, Ethan Woods, he's literally 12 years old. I'm not saying there should be an age limit to appear in the Backrooms but I find it odd how a 12 year old would one day, phase out of reality and end up here. How many other kids are down here? This kid is hardheaded. At least Matt listens to me but this kid thinks he's an expert of this damn place. Sometimes you wish he'd end up in the void with his fucking mouth. Oh, remember storage? We got weapons of course. Even though nothing is really that much of a threat to us, we still got to be locked and loaded at all times. My weapon is a Hunting Rifle that I found in a flooded vault down here in this Level. Pretty useful against Partygoers and other entities, however I want to one day test it on an annoying dumbass in order to shut their trap. Zachary owns a makeshift machete made of tape, a sharp piece of metal, and held stuck together with his own Mold Flesh he cut off. Surprisingly it never broke, yet. Virgil has a makeshift sledgehammer made of concrete and of course, the other stuff that was on Zachary's weapon. Ray somehow had a Glock 17 on him as if he was PREPARED to enter the backrooms. Look its a mystery to me but I let it slide, we need all that shit anyways. Matt for some reason thinks he doesn't need a weapon and can fight with his fists only. I gave him a pocket knife in case he ever will need it, which I'm sure he will at some point. The kid however, he doesn't own anything. Hes to hotheaded to be fighting backroom creatures. Matt has to protect him whenever we go exploring, surprisingly he never failed at keeping him safe so props to Matt. We also have a flashlight, that literally stopped working 2 days ago. No batteries or anything can turn that thing on again. Oh well, we'll just have to go raiding again. Tomorrow we're going to explore Level 3086, hoping for the best.
